for the 50th Anniversary of the BBC Doctor Who Sci-Fi series, BBC America is running a monthly three hour show called The Doctors Revisited about all eleven actors who played "The Doctor" from November 23rd, 1963 thru now. yesterday, Sunday Feb 27th, they showcased the 1st Doctor William Hartnell who played him thru September 11th, 1965. they did 45 minutes on Hartnell, his "companions" and the monsters, aliens and villians in his episodes. also showed all of the four part serial The Aztecs with Hartnell from 1964
as a die hard Doctor Who fan who used to watch the series on PBS back in the 1970's, 80's and 90's. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series, esp the parts with my three favorite Doctors of all time, the 3rd Doctor Jon Pertwee, who played The Doctor for six seasons, the 4th Doctor Tom Baker, who played him for seven seasons and is voted the BEST Doctor EVER (I agree), and the 7th Doctor Sylvester McCoy, who was the last Doctor of the original series shown here in America on PBS, and played him for three seasons ending on December 6th, 1986. he was the most comic of the Doctors.
this is a MUST VIEW for Doctor Who fans. I really can't understand WHY BBC America does NOT "reincarnate" the old series episodes. much like the original Star Trek, they were VERY innovative
btw, the new season of Doctor Who, with Matt Smith as the 11th "regeneration" of The Doctor, returns to BBC America Saturday March 30th. they killed off his "companions" Amy Pond (Karen Gillian) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) in the last episode from last season and I will be interested to see who replaces them.
