wrote this up in the September "movies you saw for the first time" thread BUT thought it deserved it's own because it was THAT GOOD
Blitz (2011) watched last night on Showtime and it's a MOST excellent "Dirty Harry" style British action crime drama with Jason Statham as a Harry Callahan type London detective sergeant chasing a serial killer of police officers.
starts out very fast with Statham's character Tom Brant beating the shit out of three punks trying to steal a car with an "hurley" which is a stick used in the Irish game of Hurling which sets that Brant is a "rouge" cop that bends the rules. like in "Dirty Harry" you KNOW who the murderer is early on. the question is, can the police catch the bastard and after that can they make charges stick?
it's pretty much non-stop action and Statham us GREAT as usual as is the rest of the cast. runs an hour and a half and I definately recommend it. I'm somewhat suprised it hasn't had much "press". it's on showtime again Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th. IF you don't have Showtime, I would get it off Netflix or another internet movie provider, it's THAT GOOD
FOR SURE!!!

somewhat suprised you have never seen Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or The Transporter and Crank film series (Crank: High Voltage, the 2nd in that series, is one of the funniest "action" movies I have ever seen). he's also about the ONLY "action" actor in Stallone's The Expendables that isn't on Metamucil and did the re-make of the old Charles Bronson The Mechanic
I'm really looking forward to seeing his latest movie Safe which sounds similar to the basic plot ofThe Professional

well, i did see snatch and lock, stock and two smoking barrels. both very good. i didn't know he was in them. i guess i should say i've never seen a movie where he's the main character. i figured they were all like the old steven seagal movies, same movie, they just changed the titles.

Jason Statham was still relatively "unknown" when he did both movies and didn't even get a top billing in either BUT his character of "Turkish" in Snatch, along with his partner "Tommy", played by Stephen Graham, where obviously the main characters in the plot.

nver seen one of his movioes. i'll add it to netflix. rink recommendation is good enough.
Like already said in the thread, Snatch and Lock Stock are both great movies. Transporter was pretty good, but avoid that POS Transporter 3, as that was beyond awful. I thought the Crank movies sucked, but they seem to have a following. Blitz was good and I thought Bank Job is probably the best of his more recent movies.

I saw Safe at the theater, In short, it was pretty entertaining. Since it seems like you're a fan of Statham, I doubt you'll be disappointed.
