Lay The Favorite

Question

Saw this On Demand last night.  I&#x27;ve been waiting for the "Rounders" of sports gambling (a lot to ask for), and I was hoping this was it.  Not quite.  It does get a lot right...  great cast:  Bruce Willis, Vince Vaughn, Pacey, the cute girl from The Town, Catherine Zeta-Jones.  &#xD;&#xA;Just like in "Bookies", they totally fuck up the end of the movie in what is supposed to be the big moment.  OK, so the guy wants New Jersey, but there&#x27;s no talk of any point spread or if he wants them money line.  How hard is it to get that part right???  Did I mention the girl from The Town is hot?

Did they EVER release this in theatres? Seems like they wanted to release this 2 summers ago. Haven&#x27;t seen it but I&#x27;ll bet it&#x27;s a steaming pile like Two for the Money.

It&#x27;s supposed to get released on Dec. 7th, but I&#x27;m not sure if that&#x27;s in theatres or the dreaded straight to video.  I actually ponied up the $$$ to watch it on demand (I&#x27;m a sucker).&#xD;&#xA;What Two For the Money was to touts, this is to gamblers...  enough good to watch it, but not really all that good!&#xD;&#xA;The Bruce Willis character is OK.  The Vince Vaughn character is ridiculous

I went back over lunch and watched this crappy movie.  Had very little to do with sports gambling.  Just drama surrounding it.

they totally flubbed the ending. The implication was that the guy was betting Nets ATS, but they didn't mention a spread. If the NJ guy missed both FTs, she would've covered!

And if they were betting ML, the payout would've been larger than 1/1.

So either way, it made no sense.

there was great movie starring Richard Dreyfus called "Let it ride" about shmuck gets on winning streak at horse track-theres even a place at the track for people to sell plasma when lose all their money--Terri Garr is in it when she was hot--a hidden gem

&#xD;&#xA;I would hardly call Let It Ride "a hidden gem" at least with the Covers movie crowd. it&#x27;s consistently rated one of the favorite gambling related movies on the site and definitely the funniest. always thought they should have done a "Let It Ride - Las Vegas Football Weekend" follow up.
