The first episode is as good as any
single episode I have ever seen since the Sopranos. The entire season is
great, best season of any show since Sopranos. It is the next Breaking
Bad.

It was pretty good - worth watching...... Not better than Sopranos or Breaking Bad though....Season 1 kind of went everywhere without going nowhere.......It does offer solid characters and storylines...Lots of potential.......Cant wait for season 2.

Neither The Sopranos or Breaking Bad hold a candle to The Wire; the best crime-drama show ever written and aired.
Being a Guinea-American from North Jersey, I feel offended by writers of The Sopranos stereotyping our kind.! Also, only Olive Garden Ginzos refer to Sauce as "Gravy!" I never liked that about the show. David Chase must have gotten his info from Italian Americans that don't even speak the language. I'm willing to bet that members of the DeCavalcante Family don't refer to Sauce as Gravy.
Anyways, I'm going to check this out tonight. I heard great things about it so far.

I never liked that about the show. David Chase must have gotten his info from Italian Americans that don't even speak the language. I'm willing to bet that members of the DeCavalcante Family don't refer to Sauce as Gravy.

Growing up Italian in our house GRAVY was Sundays dinner. It consisted of meatballs, sausage, spare ribs, braciole and pork skin stuffed with parsley, garlic and grated cheese.
To call it sauce would get you knocked off the chair Sunday or no Sunday. Raised my kids to call it GRAVY too.

Tony Sirico of Dyker Heights Brooklyn NY is every bit as tough as the character he played. Davis Chase had quite a few wise guys on set. The lingo and the cuisine was pretty damn accurate .

I know you're from Jersey too but I read somewhere that more people from South Jersey call it Gravy and people from North call it Sauce. I'm from the Newark Bay area and my neighborhood was full of Italians, Irish and Polish people. Not counting the project Yos of course. Huge influx of Hispanics and Arabs now. Bayonne is now South Greenville, Jersey City.
No one called it Gravy though. Gravy is Brown; Sauce is Red. Grandparents are from Palermo, but the kids on my block had families everywhere from from Florence, Catania, Napoli and Parma. Could be a regional thing but who really knows.
Either way, you're ok in my book being a fellow Jets fan. Things are looking grim for us this year. No, QB, No line and no receivers. I guess we can expect a lot of what happened with our first string on Saturday. If our D doesn't score, we might just get shut out, hahaha.
Anyways, the Pilot episode was great! This show has a lot of potential. The last new drama/mini-series I really like was HBO's "The Night of." Anyone here that hasn't seen it should check it out. First episode will have you hooked. It's just a mini-series.
I guess we can anticipate a 5 Season Series out of Ozark, which I think would be really good. The genius behind both Breaking Bad and The Wire is that they are both only 5 Seasons long. They didn't stretch it and and made it as realistic as possible.
I feel that they really stretched The Sopranos. You have guys committing murder and some of it's in public and no one gets caught. Also, leaving fingerprints everywhere! You know most of those guys have been arrested before so they're in the federal database. No one gets arrested though.

Ralphie lived in the neighborhood I lived in during my undergrad in a development called Inwood in Little Falls. Ro, Jackie's wife and Jackie Jr.'s mom, lived about a mile away from Ralphie in Little Falls.
When Tony shows Chris who killed his father, it's across the street from a Hooters in Wayne, which was 1 mile from the Little Falls border. About 2 miles from there on the Westbound side of Routes 46 in Totowa is where Tony was pulled over by "The Roc"-the black cop who he got fired.
I'm surprised nothing was filmed in Bayonne it being having a big Italian presence. The DeCavalcante's used to run sh!t in that City as well as Jersey City and the North Ward of Newark. Of course before the riots.
There are a lot of scenes where you're like, "Holy sh!t, I know where that is!"
Satriales is now a parking lot in Kearney.
The opening sequence does not add up either. He exits the Lincoln Tunnel, enters the NJ Turnpike on Exit 15 which I assume he's coming from Newark Airport (before EZ-Pass hahaha), he's headed Southbound toward Elizabeth Exit 13, then he's further back up North between Exits 16 and 15 before the Palaski Skyway. Then all of a sudden he's ON the Palaski Skyway headed Northbound toward 440 in Jersey City; cuts through Jersey City and then he's in Kearney, on to North Arlington (Pizzaland), back in Kearney, still in Kearney and then out of nowhere, he's at his beautiful home in Caldwell; 2 counties West of Hudson.
I've seen it so many times over the years. Only someone from around here can tell you it doesn't make sense.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.....He didn't have Garmin or a GPS so he was making drops and pick-up without a consistent route.

Agreed Van - every show has to have that as a throw in. Please someone tell me how that added anything to that show? That being completely removed would make no difference whatsoever. What I like is how they use characters that you're surprised that they are Brokebacks. Same thing on Animal Kingdom. None of the expected characteristics whatsoever and then surprise....
I liked the show, but I'm sorry it's no Sopranos or BB. It's a good show and it has some BB characteristics (the guys always getting out of tight spots).

It was dragging at the end of the season, I was not as interested as the beginning and going through the future plot scenario I dont see how season 2 will be much better.
Bateman is too dry and stiff, there were plenty of times he could have really gone outside his dry cleaning persona in the first season and he didnt.

They really ramped up the Brokeback on Animal Kingdom this season. And they were more graphic with it. I think producers do it to push the envelope because it was all really unnecessary. Still, Ozark and Brokeba....I mean Animal Kingdom are two of my favorite shows. And the mrs and I have a long running joke that whenever something "happy" happens on TV, she covers my eyes with her titties.
