BBC America with a new season of Doctor Who with a new "regeneration" of the Doctor. for some reason Matt Smith is out and Peter Capaldi is in as The 12th Doctor. will be interested to see how he plays it. the lovely Jenna Coleman returns as "companion" Clara Oswald and hopefully Alex Kingston will also return as River Song
Doctor Who has been one of my favorite SciFi tv serials for decades going back to when it was on PBS back in the 1970's-80's with the "googly eyed" Tom Baker as The Doctor. both the most recent Doctors, David Tennant and Matt Smith were excellent but Baker is still my all time favorite. will see IF Capaldi can match their performances
season premier Saturday August 23rd @ 5:15 pm and 9:00 pm pacific time

Some of the best episodes of modern era featured popular Tenant and Smith.. Producing better shows might be hard to do.. After mostly young doctors, Capaldi is a return to a older doctor for scary episodes. Even Tardis interior appears darker now.

going to take some getting used to Peter Capaldi after the first episode. seems more like a return to the original rather "stuffy" William Hartnell style Doctor and the first new "reverse Cybermen" style adversary was pretty lame. at least Jenna-Louise Coleman as Clara Oswald is still the companion. hopefully better plots and adversaries in the future. supposedly the Daleks return in the next episode. don't know IF newer fans will "warm up" to Capaldi after Matt Smith and David Tennant
thought both The Day of the Doctor with both Matt Smith and David Tennant along with John Hurt as "The War Doctor" and The Time of the Doctor, which is Matt Smith's last complete episode which ends in his "re-generation", were both excellent stories. think both will become instant favorites with fans
thought having 4th Doctor Tom Baker (the last still living Doctor of the original four) in a cameo as the UNIT time gallery curator at the end of The Day of the Doctor was a pretty cool touch and was also good to see Billie Piper as Rose Tyler return for that episode. the character of "Handles," the disembodied Cyberman head in The Time of the Doctor, somewhat reminded me of the tin dog K-9 back in the Tom Baker days which became a fan favorite back then

second Peter Capaldi episode "Into the Dalek" was a much better story. Doctor Who always more interesting when the Daleks, Sontarans or Cybermen involved in a plot. Capaldi definately a more serious Doctor than Matt Smith. I will miss the humor of Smith's portrayal the last three seasons
