Originally a 1945 British documentary on the Allied liberation of the Nazi death camps........with Alfred Hitchcock and Billy Wilder consulting.......on the shelf ever since
A (no doubt) very tough.....but necessary watch....
*those horrified by under inflated footballs or maybe only getting to water your yard twice a week ........better sit this one out

I don't know anyone that's in a hurry to see another WWII doc. by Dutch1976] What're you talking about weirdo?
"A tough, but necessary watch."...Meh.

I'll bet you don't either.............
Well.....no doubt you're in the strong majority
*that don't have the brains .....or guts to ask the tough questions
It's not yet another tired retelling of a story....driven into the ground by the History Channel....but rather.... maybe the most incredible study of human nature / human behavior......... EVER
*the tragedy itself / not this film necessarily
Hitler was no genius.....just a weird simple introverted man of little talent.... that essentially hypnotized a nation of 70 million people or so........into believing he was a GOD..............essentially
*THEN.....once they realized he was not ('43 or so)........they still did NOTHING.....just kinda ignoring that smell of burning flesh as if it wasn't there........(many camps were close to cities / not out in the country as many think).........only when he was dead.... was his hold on the nation released
FASCINATING to me............maybe a few others.........

I LOVE this old stuff. no wonder the the Israelis are "NEVER forgive and NEVER forget"
I wish AHC or the History Channel would show The Unknown War about "The Great Patriotic War" as the Soviets called WWII. played on PBS back in the late 1970's BUT when the Russians invaded Afghanistan PBS dropped it. was thought to be a "lost show" until recently. was narrated by Burt Lancaster and went into greater detail about the Soviet battles than any other WWII show I ever saw. watched it last night. disturbing movie movie just like most "Holocaust" documentaries. interesting they had two of the same woman survivors commenting as in the recent Cnn special about the liberation of Auschwitz anniversary. plays again on HBO Thursday Feb 12th and Sunday Feb 15th
btw, one of the BEST "Holocaust" themed movies I have seen recently is The Grey Zone (2001) about the revolt of the J ewish "sonderkommando" at Auschwitz in October 1944 when they were able to destroy two of the crematoria. was well acted by all involved esp David Arquette, Steve Buscemi, Allan Corduner, who played the part of Dr. Miklos Nyiszli who's memoirs the movie is based on, and esp Harvey Keitel who played Nazi "oberscharfuhrer" Eric Muhsfeldt the supervisor of the "sonderkommando". worth watching IF you are into the history.
