this had potential as a comedy because the john goodman character had a good fear and loathing in las vegas vibe to him but other than that, this was the dumbest movie i've ever seen. this could have been decent as a comedy but as a drama, or whatever the fuck it was supposed to be, it was incredibly bad.

the part where he got right towards the end and what the lawyers and his friend did, just made no sense. Wasn't a fan even with a great cast. The opening scene was the best part. Who knew the girl from My name is Earl had that body.

there was so much dumb about that movie. denzel is 0.24 houra after the crash and coming down from cocaine yet he is so calm and collected when the plane is in a free fall? typical denzel overplaying. then he meets some chick who practically dies from a heroin and she immediately becomes clean and sober althoiugh she is staying wiht an alcoholic she barely knows. i thought heroin was a little harder to beat than that. then denzel somehow finds his way into the adjacent hotel room and hammers the entire mini bar but is fine in a federal hearing the next morning because he did a few lines of cocaine. then he decides to open up at the end of a federal hearing on the crash but only gets 5 years in prison although he killed 6 people with one of tbhe worst toxicology reports you'll see.
that's just what i remember. i was following some scores while watching this mess.
the best part in my opinion, is when john goodman came in to save the day and get the guy cocaine so he can become normal again after drinking 50 little bottles of liquor. he asks the two guys for some tobacco from a cigarette and they don't know what he's asking and he says, "what is this, amateur hour?"
that was about all i like. this could have been a comedy and it could have been salvaged.

the film is not bad just misleading...I thought the movie was about a plane crash and not a alcoholic/drug addict. if I would have known I would have passed on it.
