And I understand your view of The Fountain. Mine was the same at first viewing. Then, being DRIVEN by my love for his other work, I did something I hardly ever do. I watched it again immediately. If you liked Pi and this one so much, I recommend another watch of the Fountain. While you watch, try and put yourself in the mindset that EVERYTHING that you see in the fantasy sequences are subconscious representations of the physical scenes that you see. That is to say that it is a short story and only tells a half length story, but becomes full length by showing the same story with a sub and super conscience version. At least that’s what I got… and … seeing that… I was obviously BLOWN AWAY. Then again, I could be wrong and it could just be a case of an otherwise superb artist putting out a failed attempt. Happens all the time. Regardless, it obviously made me think.
THANK YOU for this recommendation!!! What a fine film. Yes, I think that I would benefit from at least one more viewing, but I agree with you... I like that aspect quite a bit.
