Extreme sensationalism dominates the majority of this film. The bright colors and quick changes create an experience of total psychedelica but unfortuantely the movie fails on several fronts. Throughout the film but especially at the begining the constant snap changes from present to past and back again cause an irritating annoyance and confusion for the viewer. Some aspects of the production are revolutionary for the watching experience but the over all product is very bad. Of course the story is based on a children's cartoon but the producer seems to have lost the goal for the age group of the viewer he is producing for and even children have some sense of continuity.
John Goodman has grown the largest double chin and fattest checks on the planet...he looks very bad in this film. Normally I would run down a list of the actors of interest in the film but it just seems like a waste to me because I don't recommend paying theater ticket price to see the film. The only person I would think would enjoy the film (and I am only guessing because I have no personal experience in this regard) would be someone tripping on LSD because they would find the bright colors captivating and since their altered perception of reality would have distorted cognitive processing they wouldn't be dissatisified from unsequencial and illogical plot line.
There are moments when the film has the appearance of shear genius but those moments are miniscule and drowned in the vast ocean bad producing. If you want to see the film or think you want to see it then you are probably better off waiting until it comes out on DVD and hoping to borrow it from someone else for free.
