I am REALLY looking forward to Texas Rising which premiers with episode one on The History Channel Memorial day May 25th. looks like it will really be good and the cast list shows some outstanding actors. same production crew that did their Hatfield's & McCoy's mini-series >>> https://www.history.com/shows/texas-rising/about

part 2 of 5 Monday night. WORTH watching the Avenging the Alamo one hour "prequel" narrated by Bill Paxton who play Sam Houston and remarks from the other players. excellent overview

Finishing Part 2 tonight. Great series thus far. A lot facts about Texas I had no clue about.

Santa Ana was a tremendous A hole as the program depicts. He was exiled in Cuba before the fight and the Mexicans made a deal with him to return if he were to lead troops. He agreed but never showed until way later.

I'm hoping the fu**ing Indians make up for killing women and children refugees in part I.

Episode 3 "Blood for Blood" tonight Monday June 1st. can't wait to see Ray Liotta as Lorca, who is kind of a "Texas Ninja", eviscerate more of Santa Anna's Mexicans

btw, hated to see the two Ranger boys Truett Fincham played by Adam Hicks and Yancy Burns played by Dillion Lane get killed at Goliad. they were a good "comic relief" the first two episodes

Episode 4 excellent with the Texans decisive battle of San Jacinto. Sam Houston showed a LOT of self control NOT hanging Santa Anna or letting Lorca eviscerate him. been a great show though and looking forward to the finale next monday

Sam Houston strikes me as a total pushover with Santa Ana, especially in front of his men. I mean geez, all he did was butcher surrendered soldiers and kill innocent women and children.

think Sam Houston has another agenda planned. I'm not really "up" on my early Texas history and what happened to that murdering Mexican baztard BUT the teaser for the Episode 4 finale shows Santa Anna in a meeting with American President Andrew Jackson

Episode 5: The Rise of the Republic. interesting ending to the story. Santa  Anna survived the war and did meet with American President Andrew Jackson in 1837 then returned to Mexico where he was either in or out of power thru August of 1855.

had excellent "Cliff Notes" at the end about the principle players in the drama. definitely worth watching at least once. IF The History Channel runs true to form they will probably have a weekend "marathon" some time in the near future

Good series. There's a documentary about the Mexican American War that aired about 8 months ago but I don't recall the exact name. Ties everything together with Santa Ana, the Mexican Army and everything that led up to the battle.
