Amazing movie.....just went and saw this after I finished the book and I was not disappointed at all. Very inspiring sports film worth checking out. Based on the true story of Baltimore Raves Left Tackle Michael Oher.
I heard Michael Oher hated the movie because so much of it was made up to create a good story. For example, they say in the movie that he had never played football until he moves in with the rich family. In reality he had been playing football since he was 8 years old. They twisted this guys life story around to make more money. I think the term "based on a true story" is used very loosely in Hollywood.

I know what you are saying Henry......How would he know how to drive a car and why would he be trusted to drive one with his background?
If I knitpicked at things like this I might as well stop watching 24 then.
Great movie anyway.
24 doesn't claim to be a true story which puts it in a completely different category. Don't say it's a true story and then make it a total fabrication. I mean, even the guy that the story was about hated that they lied so blatantly. It's a ploy to make more money.
I enjoyed the shit out of "Back to School" with Rodney Dangerfield, but I didn't have to be led to believe it was a true story to enjoy it.

With all due respect you really ought to rethink not seeing this movie. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen in my entire life. I don't care if it is VERY LOOSELY based on true events it was a great movie. There were some great football scenes, humerous scenes and yes of course heart warming scenes. I read the book and I can agree VERY LOOSELY based on true events but unbelievable movie all the same.
No only the kid playing Michael Oher is good but Sandra Bullock was unbelievable. She had kind of like a Julia Roberts Erin Brockovich type role. Very memorable! The little boy who plays Michael's adopted brother was beyond hilarious and also very memorable. I strongly recommend this movie to everyone!
By the way, my favorite part of the movie was the college recruiting process. Very funny parts during this time. Also during this time my wife leaned over to me and said that she think Michael will agree to go to Tennessee. I said really... how much do you want to bet? We made our customary bet... she took Tennessee and I took Ole Miss. I guess we both know who won that bet. LOL!

I haven't seen it....and everyone is saying its a great movie but i can't get past the fast that in the trailer its his mom/gaurdian whatever on the football feild telling him what to do during practice....just dont ever see that happening in real life

If I'm not mistaken, Jennifer Connelly's character in "A Beautiful Mind" was actually Latina in real life - the filmmaker's just decided to make her white for the hell of it.

Good example. In the movie her character also took him back after leaving him while he gets help...in reality she dumped his crazy ass for good after he was arrested for having gay sex in a public restroom. Now that part of the "true story" may hurt ticket sales.
