Let me begin by saying I liked the movie but it is not a movie that I would recommend for everyone.  It has several kung fu movie cliches and it's not straightforward in the manner of if the movie is really made to make fun of kung fu films or if it takes all the assumed best aspects of kung fu movies in an attempt to make the ultimate kung fu film.  The special effects are great and there are several excellent fight scenes but when the movie is over I still was trying to decide if it was a good movie or not.

The film does have martial arts film stars Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

Just as several Asian fairy tales have plots in which the main character is some how transported to a strange place...perhaps a different plane of reality, and must succeed at some greatly important task on that different plane of reality before the main character can return to his own true reality so goes the plot of THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM.   The main character is an american born adolescent caucasian male who is obsessed with kung fu movies but has never had any martial arts training.  He gets forced into assisting in a robbery of the store where he buys his kung fu DVDs.  The robbery goes baddly and the main character is then transported to an ancient Asian reality with the task of returning a magical weapon to its owner.  That's all of the plot that I will reveal so that if you decide you want to see the film it won't spoil the movie for you.  I recommend that any normal movie goer with an interest in this film wait until it comes out on DVD because I don't think that the film will please the majority of movie goers however the film does have so merrits but I see them as being very subjective to the individual watching the film.  I will say that this is probably the only film that a movie viewer will see Jet Li urinating in Jackie Chan's face...for some people that alone would be enough for them to see the film.

WorldControl is the only person I know who see's as many movies as I do....

I liked this movie....it was no shock about Jet Li's character at the end of the movie. And the make it rain scene was classic.

Overall a solid film....kinda had a modern day Wizard of Oz feel to it but with a Kung Fu twist.

    But a solid  for me

I don't give you the whole plot, NJDevils if you actually saw the film you'd understand that.  I only give you enough of the plot to give you a superficial idea if it's the type of movie you think you would like or dislike.  NJDevils, I understand you have the need to get even with me for attacking your stupidity of not knowing the date when you posted your June edition of your topic but you're just more intensely exhibiting your stupidity because my discussion of the plot of this film is less than 170 words and there is no way I could give you the entire plot of a movie that runs one hour and 53 minutes in so little words.  I give you the basic set for the main character to the point where he is given a task to complete and I in no way shape or form tell you if he is successful or if he fails...I
don't give you what happens to the other characters in the film in fact I don't tell you very much at all.  NJDevils, if you think that what I wrote is the entire plot then it's obvious that your inferior comprehension ability is only limited to 1 to 7 word processing so when you read something that goes beyond that word count you erroneously conclude that everything possible has been stated in the posting.  NJDevils, you want revenge...that's fine with me but at least attack me in someway that doesn't display that you are intensely stupid and is substantially incorrect in it's accusation.  I regret that when I attacked you that I included comments about small worded reviews and this being because of lack of vocabulary because you were the only person I meant to attack and in that statement I ended up attacking everyone who posts in your topic which is contradictory to my intentions because I do enjoy that fact that at least those people are communicating and sharing ideas.  You have admitted that you were too stupid to know what the date was when you posted your topic 2 full days before the month began and now you're just continuing your display of ignorance by attacking me on something you know absolutely nothing about......your statement suggests that you have never seen the movie.  You can ask anyone who has seen the movie and they will tell you that I haven't disclosed the "enitre" plot of the film.  You make it obvious that it is a revenge issue for you because I posted the review on 4/23/2008 and you have never responded to it until now.

I have no intention of coming into your thread and attacking you further as long as you don't do anything retarded like posting a topic that is labeled with a month in the title before the month actually has started.  The bottom line is if you hadn't done that then I wouldn't have attacked you and we wouldn't be having this exchange.  If a member attacks me in your thread then I probably will respond in your thread but aside from these situations I have no intention of posting further in your thread so if you don't want me posting in your topic then don't post anything retarded and make sure you and the members in your topic don't post any attacks toward me.

Now if you still have this intense revenge issue boiling up inside you then I suggest that perhaps you choose to attack me on the postings in a couple of topics regarding NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN because it did win the Oscar for best picture and there are several members who loved the film which I have stated was terrible and shouldn't have ever been nominated for the award...do this and at least you will have something credible on your side (The Academy) without having to exhibit your sheer stupidity.

World, he does have a good point without a doubt..............and you do seem to have the propensity to start a debate with anything not limited to a small kitchen appliance in here.
