  I thought the first episode was solid enough..I thought Colin Farrell stole the show, and makes the show worth watching all by himself. I think Vince Vaughn has to step up his game, considering the quality of this cast combined with the fact that Vaughn hasn't played anyone but himself for the last ten years. Nothing can compare to the awesome first season with Harrelson and McConaughey, but this can still he a good season..There are a lot of good actors involved with it..

Thank goodness for the ending which put the whole episode together nicely, before that it was all over the place.  I haven't cringed yet with Vaughn, just hope he doesn't ruin the show with his acting which has a lot to be desired.

Agree with Jake, good post.

Nothing can compare to the awesome first season with Harrelson and McConaughey

I think that statement about says it all. after watching the first of the new Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch versions it is NOT nearly as good BUT still entertaining and worth watching. agree that without that final scene in the first episode it would have been "WTF?"

Episode 3 was solid, definitely rebounded from the first 2 episodes imo

It helps to watch every episode of a series like this twice, to catch clues/hints that you may have previously missed. Parts of the series have been slow as hell, while others have shined. It definitely has been a mixed bag, but I have a feeling it will pick-up after that ending of episode four..We'll see..

I still say this mess going downhill fast. the whole plot is just kind of goofy. thank God the new season of Ray Donovan is back on Showtime

  I think Colin Farrell's wife lied to him. I think she had a red haired boyfriend on the side, and knowing that Ray would kill him if he knew, made up a story. Also, when Paul visits the house, the picture he is shown of the two kids left behind after the murder are clearly the kids of the mayor when they were young..
 On a side note, Ray Donovan is always good RinkRat.

i am actually thinking of dumping True Detective from my Sunday record lineup, JackLake720. not nearly as good as last years players or plots. kind of a train wreck and Ray Donovan SO much better a show although IT is NOT as good with out Elliott Gould as Ezra

Latest episode where Vaughn and Farrell sat at that table waiting to kill each other had me running to the bathroom twice.
Some of the worst dialogue Ive heard in quite some time.

Why does everything have to end with a question mark???

If it was clever Id have no problem with it,but this fodder has me thinking they pieced it together as they went along.Maybe a chuckle or a grin could help.I dont really know.

No chemistry like the first.  [jmo]

Other than Collin Farrell's performance this show is pretty bad. I knew going in that it could not be as good as the first but come on.

All they do is talk, and its poor dialogue. The plot is all over the place and I just can't take Vince Vaughn seriously.

Nick Pizzolatto scrapped his original idea for season 2 and gave us this. It really shows with the lack of flow.

Sunday August 2nd show was just about un-watchable. WHO the HELL is the director on this mess? AND the sound engineer? NONE of these so call "actors" know how to annunciate their lines. it's all "arty-smarty" whispery, breathy, mumbly unintelligible gibberish. this whole show has about turned my brain to guacamole 

didn't see Taylor Kitsch's character getting killed coming last week BUT he probably wanted OUT. the season ends next week and it can NOT come soon enough for me. IF HBO is smart they will just let this mess die a graceful death in the off-season

thank GOD this season is OVER and they killed off all the principle actors SO should be NONE of those next season. IF it comes back the producers need to come up with MUCH better plots and characters then this last MESS

I hated everything about it.  First season set the bar high.  Second season they peed on the bar, before setting it on fire.

agree 100%, MR. best thing the producers can do is let it die a peaceful death BUT with the "franchise name" that probably will NOT happen. we have had Louisiana and now SoCal for settings. NYC, Florida or New England next?

One of the worst seasons of anything i have ever watched....If it wasn't summer with nothing else on i would have canned this after ep 2.

the finale of season 2 almost made it worth watching.
