What Annoys You about Pawn Stars?

I think the thing that annoys me the most about Pawn Stars is how staged it is. You cannot tell me that Rick, "the old man" or "Big Hoss" know nearly everything about an item the moment it comes in the store. How many times have you gotten a history lesson from Rick or "the old man?" Not "Big Hoss" or Chumlee I guess but seriously. You have to know that most of this is staged and these people are not coming into the store for the first time. I might believe that these people don't know the values of these items or if they are fake but I am certain there is a screening process. What are your thoughts?

Dude, you HAVE to know a lot about everything to be successful in Pawning. Rick has probably been doing that since he was little, and you can tell he really enjoys it. I'm sure he gets brushed up on dates and order of events, but I guarantee you he knows more shit off the top of his head like a second instinct than you would think.

When they don't know much about an item, they call in an expert. . . which they do on a regular basis. Not sure it's any more staged than I would have expected.

The thing I don't like is they RARELY show misses, typically only successes - either making money or a smart decision not buying something. I'd like to see a few more purchasing failures.

Overall, pretty fantastic show, I tend to learn a lot from it

He clearly knows more than the average bear.  My point is he gives a history lesson with every item.  Frankly, that is one of my favorite parts but it isn&#x27;t believable in the least.  I wish that it was more reality based, but of course it is on the history channel so what should I expect right.By the way, I completely agree that we should see some of the items that they took a bath on as well.  That might make for some interesting TV.

Its a good show.   I know a thing or two about the pawn buisness  and yes Rick does know alot about historical items inparticular.  But he has to, only because of the location of his shop.   What a pawnbroker might see on a daily basis in GA is not the same as what a broker deals with in Nevada.   My complaint with the show is they never show redemptions,  pawn extensions or the items that "fall out".    The show represents that most items they take in are purchases,  when im all but certain the vast majority are pawns.  And with todays economy id like to see what their reclaim/loan extension rates are.
