I just introduced myself to the Food and Fitness forum and didn't want to leave you guys out.
Hi! I'm Spitfire15.
I've been here ONE time before... platypus got me listening to something when I told him that it seems like all music today sucks... it was whiny emo stuff and I've never been back, no offense to platypus intended, good poster.
I like music... but it all sucks. I find myself listening to more hip hop than anything now, I'd like to listen to other sings, but its all such processed bullshit now. Have you heard ozzy osbourne's new song scream? How do that do that?? How do they make a rock 'track' with guitar noises and drum sounds but somehow it just has no feel at all, its just like all the other garbage on the radio.
Classic rock and hip hop for me... I've had to force down a ton of country music this summer working with a baseball team, it wasn't bad... I get it... its just not for me. And I learned that rain is a good thing, it makes women 'frisky'.

Umm, well, this is all I could find as far as famous musicians from Pittsburgh go (no, really, this is all I could find, and even this is a bit of a stretch). Enjoy!

They are a Pittsburgh band and I can't say that I am a fan, but they make very upbeat, 'poppy' rock that is perfect for the radio and very catchy, it surprises me that they never made it big nationwide. Everybody knows them here but they aren't for everyone - the lyrics all sound like they are written by a 12 year old and musically they aren't great either, but they have a very poppy radio sound.
If you want to youtube them their most famous and earliest, and probably best song is 'cigarette'. The one that personifies their sound best is 'better off without you'. Worst lyrically is 'penny on the floor' if you want to see what I mean about being written by a 12 year old, and the last noteable track is 'too late' which is actually pretty good lyrically but lacking in every other aspect IMO.

Checked out the video for "Better Off Without You"... At least the girl's hot.
Probably more of a "bar band" than anything else - good to listen to on a Friday night, but not much more than that.
As far as musical acts from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by how few there actually were. I know it's not exactly Seattle or Los Angeles, but you'd think at least ONE singer/band would have made it at least somewhat big.
You've got Christina Aguilera, RZA and Bret Michaels of Poison who lived in Pittsburgh, but you wouldn't really say they're FROM Pittsburgh.
Guess this means it's time to start up a band Spit!
