Saw him a few years ago..........not bad. He's coming out here again in July but it's like 5 days after Rush, plus we're going to see Greg Allman a couple weeks before that. Can't see every show I want.

I'm a die hard ABB man but if i had to choose between a Greg show or Fogerty playing a mostly Creedence songs, i'd have to catch the Midnight Rider next time.

The Mohegan Sun Arena is a great place to view a concert. It's small, at only 10,000 capacity, and I'm guessing there were about 8,000 in attendance. Scheduled show time was 7:30pm but we all know how that works. My disabled son is 22 and I wanted to get him settled in so we arrived about 7:25pm. A twenty minute wait until the big screens started airing a John Fogerty interview in which he talked about the crazy early years, 1969 and Woodstock, where CCR followed the Grateful Dead at about 1am that Sunday morning in August of 1969. Yes, he's been Rocking and Rolling for over 45 years now.
The concert finally kicked off at about 8:05pm. A very loyal audience of Lilly-White 40 to 60 year olds enthusiastically welcomed John Fogerty. The only people of color I observed were either wearing Usher Pins or Security Shirts. Why is this important? It's not. I just always assumed John Fogerty resonated with a more diverse crowd.
It became immediately obvious for two reasons why Fogerty is enjoying continued success in his later years. He has surrounded himself with a great supporting cast of musicians. And his voice has never let him down.
Heavy handed Drummer Kenny Aronoff stole the show during the song "Keep on Chooglin'" when he broke into a five minute solo that had the entire arena on it's feet.
John Fogarty's son Shane is also on the tour and supported his father at center stage with Rhythm Guitar during a faster version of "Lodi".
The song of the night, IMHO, was "Heard it through the Grapevine". Bassist James Lomenzo emerged from the shadows to render a stunning three minute solo that, again, had the crowd on it's feet.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Bob Malone on Keyboards and Devon Pangle on Lead Guitar, both delivering solid, energetic performances.
John Fogerty also performed a solo on the piano, "Long as I can see the light".
Overall the concert was very enjoyable as these guys Rocked for a solid Hour and Fifty-Five minutes. Incredible. The concert ended at about 10:00pm with the crowd screaming for even more.
It is quite obvious that Fogerty fans prefer the older CCR music and I was personally disappointed that "Susie Q" was not one in this concert. Fogerty tried to push his newer work, at one time mentioning he is working with The Foo-Fighters on a project and surprisingly the crowd was emotionless at his remark.
All-in-all you could not ask for a better show. The Song List was long and both Fogerty and the band played with enthusiasm throughout. Very happy to have been there to witness this one. Highly recommended if this tour is coming near your home. You won't walk away disappointed.
