I've always been a fan. And I agree New Order ain't shit.
About 5 yrs ago or so a movie came out called 'Control', about the band and death of Curtis. At the same time a Docu about the band came out. Both are worth a watch.

One of the best topics on covers! Have been a huge JD fan ever since I saw the love will tear us apart video on city limits/muchmusic in the late 80's. Maybe the best post-punk group ever. Try to pick up their box set Heart and Soul which pretty much has everything they did. Am a rabid fan, buying bootlegs, books, anything I could get my hands on. Just added Ian Curtis's daughter Natalie on twitter yesterday. Their music is very dark and very powerful, many groups over the year have tried to emulate them, but never quite equaled it. Although groups like Editors and Interpol really tried. 24 hour party people was another movie that had the joy division story. Their second and last album Closer is one harrowing listen. Stuff like Heart and Soul, 24 hours are some of the bleakest things I have heard. Decades is maybe the darkest, the hair still raises on my neck when I hear it. It's a shame they never made it to North America, I wonder what would have happened. I love New Order as well, stuff like Temptation, Blue Monday and Bizarre Love triangle is some of the best synth/dance music ever made. You could see that JD were heading in that direction with Isolation. Ian loved Kraftwerk, so if he lived they might have gone in the same direction New Order did. There was no way he was going to keep putting darker music if he lived. But I do think his singing was more powerful than Bernard Sumner.

Dangerbay......you mention being an audiophile. What kind of setup do you have?
