I'm a rocker, and I love most all genres of music truly.  From Rock to Blues, Classical, some Jazz is okay... I even like Bluegrass and some Country.

I will never understand peoples fascination with Punk Rock.  Usually, very poor musicianship played by deralict idiots drunk on stage, followed by smashing their instruments.  Usually HARD ON THE EARS.  I just don't care for it, it is lousy music.

What makes the punk genre even worse, if a band gains any commercial success at all, they are hated for being "sellouts".  WTF?  

No doubt many will hate on me for saying it, but punk rock sucks.  I like great musicianship.  I guess I don't get it.

 I've heard some punk that's ok/amusing, but for the most part I agree.

 I too like great musicianship.........so I can't stand any of the death metal crapp or anything where the singer is just screaming incoherently..........& obviously I don't like rap............no musical value at all save for a few songs I've heard over the years.

I don't get country music, but a dickload of people seem to.  For me, Punk was the first independent music style choice I made, at a real young age.  I guess it's just what grabs you early.  Cowboys and achy breaky hearts didn't do it for me, but class struggle and anti-authoritarian stuff did.  Also, I've haven't met many fans of the genre nor musicians, that would claim the actual music is some high quality, virtuoso level stuff.  That's part of why it's punk music.

Also you spelled "derelict" wrong, and worse made a pretty unintelligent generalization about musicians being drunk and smashing their equipment on stage after a set (something I've never seen live, and I've been to a fairly large amount of shows in my life).

Not the best showing when you're trying to denigrate an entire genre of music.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean there isn't "great musicianship" in every genre.

Punk is very primal and very real.  It's not for everyone.

My favorite punk band I would say is Green Day.  Their sound is punk I would say, but they are great musicians that write and record very well.  I have a few of their CDs and I really like to listen to them.  Those guys can really play.

That being said, they truly are punks.  They bash USA all they can, and they are mindless leftists idiots.  I just try to ignore that and enjoy the music.

Like any genre there are both great and average musicianship in the music. Punk to you is probably like hard core metal to me. I love hard rock and roll however some of the speed/death metal bands out there I just don't get it or have not spent much time trying.

Punk Rock is mostly three chords and maybe this is why you are not a fan it can get redundant and seem simple. There are many good musicians though and for every one I'm sure there are many just average.

I grew up with Old School Punk some of my favorites are The Ramones, The Clash, Pistols and X. One of my favorite guitar players is from the band X Billy Zoom.

Music, (all genres) truly is in the ear of the beholder my friend.

There is a ton of music i hear and think, wow people like this stuff? And I've heard it all regarding the music i listen to, trust me.

Bashing other people's taste in music is like arguing about religion and politics, it's a never ending, pointless debate.

I know everyone has different tastes and such but not certain the Clash is really punk rock but flirting in that area I suppose. I  still to this day really enjoy their music.

exactly!!!  Green Day is punk rock for cupcakes.  Eat up wimps.

You want REAL punk rock, listen to GG Allin or the Stooges or the Sex Pistols.
