Listened to a day's worth of Cup practice, even took notes:
48 car sounded smug and confident, they did lots of tinkering on the car, not many longer runs. The changes didn't seem like they were crucial to running good, but making the car great.
18 car was very happy with his car too, at one point saying something like... "every change we've made was good, they did different things to the car, but they were all good in certain ways". At the end of Happy Hour he said, "this is going to be a fun race", this is pretty pretty giddy for Kyle to say, so he must be loaded for Sunday.
11 was quiet after his incident, pretty much just the facts, couldn't get much of a read from him other than he's scared of losing the Chase at Dover rather than excited about winning the race. He sounded a little frustrated and complained about a loose race car.
42 was happy early but i think they were worried about juan shredding his tire, not sure if it was the setup or his driving style. they were doing more tinkering than wholesale changes. Toward the end of practice he got stuck in traffic and got pissed and just after he misses pit road twice in a row, this dude knows how to implode.
24 was frustrated, Jeff seems to just go along with what Letard says and doesnt seem to add his imput into the changes other than how the car feels. At the end of practice he said they finally got the front of the car turning good but the back end of the car was still not right.
the 99 sounded content, like all the Rousch cars he did lots of longer runs.
thre 17 said very little, i was all over his channel late but they didnt give up anything, his car looked fine on the track.
the 16 seemed iffy early but at the end of the first practice he really liked his car and he only liked it better during the 2nd, loving his car better as the runs got longer, then at the end of happy hour he says, "something isnt right, maybe something in the suspension.". He finished practice being mostly quiet. So I don't know.
the 2 was making huge changes, shocks and wedge and everything else, i dont think they ever found something that worked, whenever teams are changing their setups so drastically they hardly ever run good on Sunday. The 12 was bad too and the 77 was laughable the way he described his car as a "piece of shit".
20, same loosey goosey Joey, his car was good, maybe he could break through with some luck. He did say his car was "weird" at one point but he was happy other wise
29, i didn't see the begining of the feud with the 11, but Children spend a lot of time on the radio with Harvick and the 33's Boyer. Harvick was running crazy lines, the highest of practice and he seemed content with how his car was running at the end even if the car was "loose".
the 33 team just seemed so beaten on the radio, like noticeably bad, so gloomy when he said his car was "loose".
the 47, 56 and the 00 worked hard on their pieces but they didnt seem to put together greatness, maybe they'll compete in matchups and get top 5-10's
4 tires will be the key, only one car tried the no tire route in the Busch race and Newman fell back quick, in practice teams were talking about chewing them up and even the best team's lap times were increasing by a half a tenth every lap, timed laps sounded like... 23.49.. 23.54.... 24.1. Track position will be earned, no games. Lots of teams are still struggling with getting on pit road, aside from the 42's, the 48, 16 and a couple others goofed too.
Rain hold off til nighttime, hope its not a merry go round race like Saturday's, very very little passing, some very good cars had trouble passing some very average cars. this hotel computer is crappy, i'm going to gamble at the casino, no time to proof read!
Enjoy The Race!
