Listened to a day's worth of Cup practice, even took notes:

48 car sounded smug and confident, they did lots of tinkering on the car, not many longer runs. The changes didn't seem like they were crucial to running good, but making the car great.

18 car was very happy with his car too, at one point saying something like... "every change we've made was good, they did different things to the car, but they were all good in certain ways". At the end of Happy Hour he said, "this is going to be a fun race", this is pretty pretty giddy for Kyle to say, so he must be loaded for Sunday.

11 was quiet after his incident, pretty much just the facts, couldn't get much of a read from him other than he's scared of losing the Chase at Dover rather than excited about winning the race. He sounded a little frustrated and complained about a loose race car.

42 was happy early but i think they were worried about juan shredding his tire, not sure if it was the setup or his driving style. they were doing more tinkering than wholesale changes. Toward the end of practice he got stuck in traffic and got pissed and just after he misses pit road twice in a row, this dude knows how to implode.

24 was frustrated, Jeff seems to just go along with what Letard says and doesnt seem to add his imput into the changes other than how the car feels. At the end of practice he said they finally got the front of the car turning good but the back end of the car was still not right.

the 99 sounded content, like all the Rousch cars he did lots of longer runs.

thre 17 said very little, i was all over his channel late but they didnt give up anything, his car looked fine on the track.

the 16 seemed iffy early but at the end of the first practice he really liked his car and he only liked it better during the 2nd, loving his car better as the runs got longer, then at the end of happy hour he says, "something isnt right, maybe something in the suspension.". He finished practice being mostly quiet. So I don't know.

the 2 was making huge changes, shocks and wedge and everything else, i dont think they ever found something that worked, whenever teams are changing their setups so drastically they hardly ever run good on Sunday. The 12 was bad too and the 77 was laughable the way he described his car as a "piece of shit".

20, same loosey goosey Joey, his car was good, maybe he could break through with some luck. He did say his car was "weird" at one point but he was happy other wise

29, i didn't see the begining of the feud with the 11, but Children spend a lot of time on the radio with Harvick and the 33's Boyer. Harvick was running crazy lines, the highest of practice and he seemed content with how his car was running at the end even if the car was "loose".

the 33 team just seemed so beaten on the radio, like noticeably bad, so gloomy when he said his car was "loose".

the 47, 56 and the 00 worked hard on their pieces but they didnt seem to put together greatness, maybe they'll compete in matchups and get top 5-10's

4 tires will be the key, only one car tried the no tire route in the Busch race and Newman fell back quick, in practice teams were talking about chewing them up and even the best team's lap times were increasing by a half a tenth every lap, timed laps sounded like... 23.49.. 23.54.... 24.1. Track position will be earned, no games. Lots of teams are still struggling with getting on pit road, aside from the 42's, the 48, 16 and a couple others goofed too.

Rain hold off til nighttime, hope its not a merry go round race like Saturday's, very very little passing, some very good cars had trouble passing some very average cars. this hotel computer is crappy, i'm going to gamble at the casino, no time to proof read!

    Enjoy The Race!

Fantastic Info. You must have been glued to those practices or have a good online source. Well done.

clepto, it's a lot of button pushing, i've got a set of 3 drivers that i hear at all times and every time a car slows on the backstretch to come down pit road i switch to their channel.

They really need to do something at Dover to get more racing, the Saturday race was pathetic, i think a couple times the infield pole's top ten didnt change for 20 laps, a merry go round race. Sunday's race had a little more passing, but i wouldnt call it "racey" and i definitely wouldnt call in entertaining. i think they should put asphalt back down or take the spoilers off the cars.

Pennstate, Biffle talks more way than Kenseth, but not as much as Edwards, you can't shut up Edwards! Team Roush really screwed up the joint Sunday, Kenseth missed pit road (called it!) and destroyed his day after he flatspotted and blew out his tires, i think he got a decent finish considering the damage to his car, what happened to Biffle? one second he's running ok, i thought he was biding his time for a good finish, did he get screwed by pitting early and the caution coming out putting him a lap down? anyway, Roush is not doing what it takes to win championships or even races

tree88, I can't see letarte and gordo continuing after this year, jeff was calm early on and moving thru the field nice, but after mid race pitstop and change he got really angry,  he was saying the pressures in the tires were all fucked up, the car was shit and he wasnt sure if he was going to finish the race, sounded like a kyle busch rant.  never thought i'd say this but i'm pulling for jeff gordon a little bit.

i think kurt busch is a stud, his car wasnt good and he ran it up front all day, pit penalties couldnt even stop him and from prerace interviews to green flag racing that guy has polished himself and learned how to be a complete nascar driver, his teammate brad should learn from him.

the 42 was fast, but he tortures his race cars, any races where "conservation" is the key, cross montoya out. anyone notice how fat he's getting? he looks silly in that fire suit, during driver intros he looked uncomfortable walking down those stairs cause it was so tight.

i dont know what they said on TV but the 18 was good, probably second place good, but with 50 laps to go Kyle said the splitter was hitting the track and he thought a bump stop in the car had wore out. when he went out that race was over except for the minor prizes. 20 is getting better and better, he needs to man up and get some angry in his driving, johnson was probably too good to beat but he should have held off burton. someday soon he wont be afraid to make a mistake and get after it. the 11 car drove not to lose, i think he was freaking out, if he freaks at dover, what is he going to be at talladega? JJ is already only 35 behind, he better get over it.

Boyer was terrible, Harvick wasnt much better, but Burton was unbelievable, this surprised me, Ward's brother didn't say much in practice, mostly lap times, i guess "quiet" is good with the 31 car.

bad luck for the 56, 00 and 43, they deserved better than they got, if the 43 doesnt cut a tire maybe he and the 48 battle for the trophy?the 47 only finished a lap down, thats not so bad for Ambrose at Dover. the 14 can be a bonehead, tony needs to learn to concentrate.

i had to laugh at the first yellow, i said no two tire stops and the just about everyone did two, i dont remember many taking two after that though. Rain held off, it didnt start until i was eating crabs at kent island, didnt win at the casino, the table games were jammed, it was too late to play poker and the girl wanted to play slots. madshooter,i hope the matchups worked out good for you.

    thanks clepto

pennstate, that caution in mid pit stops was bad for several good cars that might've pushed the 48 a little bit. i would've loved to have seen the 16, 43, 56 and even the 00 running on the lead lap or closer to the front at the end.

looking at the schedule, i'd love to see the night race at Charlotte, but my next race is probably Martinsville.
