Thought I'd share a couple of things I heard from my NASCAR source.
This is from someone close to Tony Stewart. Apparently his injuries were way more serious than they let on. Double compound fracture in his leg...the ambulance he was in didn't have any blood supply in it, and he almost died en route to the hospital. He had a world class doctor do the surgery, and afterwards he told Stewart that he barely was able to save his leg and if he has another injury to that leg, they probably won't be able to save it based on the pins and wires holding it together. Scary stuff...gotta wonder how Stewart will perform this year.
Rumblings from various sources: Jeff Gordon is losing his fire to drive, and retirement might not be too far away. Can't confirm that one as good as I could the Tony Stewart news, but he might be a good one to Fade this year (sorry Clepto).
Heard from several NASCAR guys that the guy to look out for (besides Johnson) is Denny Hamlin. Lots of NASCAR opinion I trust like him to rebound and have a championship caliber year.
I personally like Kurt this year. I think driving the bad cars the last couple years has humbled him a bit, but also made him an even better driver. If he was doing good in the 78...I love him in a car that should be better.
Can't wait for this season!

Well Thanks for the info I found this to be very interesting and I also will be on Hamlin this year . Hamlin seems like he is racing for respect after winning Homested Florida and one of the duels!! Any questions? he said at the end of the race. Here's who looks strong to me at Daytona - Hamlin, Keslowski, Junior ,Harvick and Kenseth. I will be rooting for Jr as I followed his Dad for years Also Harvick and Kenseth should be there at the last lap. As you know avoiding trouble will be a main concern. If Hamlin can tame his thoughts and reactions long enough to survive look for him on the final lap to challenge either the 29 or the 20 car

if tomm plays out like the last 2 days, the strong cars will be up front at the end. There has been almost zero passing thus far with the outside line only working due to late cautions that gave us close finishes. I certainly hope that the 500 is better than the junk we have had to watch thus far. agree with masjes on the cars that have looked stout thus far. I think we see Kyle contend tomm though, he has been super quiet in the cup car all week. He will be there at the end for sure.
