I love this track. A lot of people seem to complain constantly about too many cookie cutter tracks--too little talent necessary on the driver's part--too boring of a race. I think Pocono addresses all of those.
It's the most unique track on the circuit by far. 3 completely different corners and very high and low speeds on the track. Nobody can ever get their car to run perfectly in all 3 of the corners, so it's always a compromise. I think you see some of the most talented drivers run well here because it takes a lot of skill, and a lot of cohesion between driver and crew chief communication to get a car set up right.
I enjoy races that get strung out for a while. While the short track melees are certainly fun to watch, I get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing people work through this track. It's also one of the coolest sights in Nascar when all of the cars start fanning out on the straightaways after the restarts.
Anyway, I'm going to make my plays later this weekend. I feel like we're going to see another Indy where a *longshot* wins it, but I want to watch the practices this week as I've been getting my ass kicked by playing off of previous driver ratings.
Kevin Harvick +1150 - Probably going to be a large play if he doesn't drop under 10:1. He had a quick car at Indy and a top 5 car here in the Spring. I'm not sure how much stake to put in Indy when the Hendricks cars were so off there though.
Juan Pablo Montoya +2000 - Small play. He's going to have a top 5 car. I avoided him at Indy because I thought he would blow it somehow. Well, he didn't... but it was blown for him. Could be redemption time. He's going to win off of a road course sometime. I think he's ready to put the demons behind him.
Jamie McMurray +2300 - Possibly large play. I'm really starting to see how momentum can carry drivers into spurts of wins over the last few years. I may ride this train while it's hot--- He's certainly got the horsepower to win. The only downside is this isn't a really high marquee event, and he seems to swarm to the front at those! Daytona 500 - 1st, Indy 400 - 2nd, Charlotte - 2nd, Darlington - 2nd.
Mark Martin +2800 - Possible small play. Going to see how he unloads. If he unloads as a top 5 car and I can get 18:1 on him, I'll play small.
Joey Logano +3800 - 4th place car here last year until Delana ordered Harvick to spin him. I hate Joey Logano, but I can't ignore the value here. 9th at Indy.
I'll let you know what I come up with later-- if I hate practice I may just play a few matchups.

gl yourpix, nice writeups by the way. I am too lazy to do that anymore, only in the disc. thread.
That's because you guys are all so old and tired.
Nah, I just did it because I haven't made a post in a while because I've been playing really small and losing every week. Thinking about mounting a comeback starting now.
And all of my posts ought to come with a disclaimer that says -- "written by a Nascar fan--not productive capper" or something. But I'm learning.

You'll be seeing mine there as well. I actually did really well in my inaugural football season. I'll see if I can limit my losses by keeping it to two or three games a week though.
Also, the other reason I am probably biased towards Pocono is that I think this is going to be the track that Allmendinger breaks through on. I don't think it's going to be this year, but next.

Only write ups I do are in football.
Usually every play is accompanied by a write up.
