The Jazz are very aware that they've been under-performing lately. Even their wins have not been so impressive, prompting Guard Derron Williams to openly state that they need to dominate some teams and come out with more aggression from the start. The last 2 lethargic wins (both non-covers) at home vs the Grizz & Pistons have this line reasonably low. Meanwhile, the Hawks are on the last leg of a 4 game roadie playing back-to-back, and they were forced to exert more energy than necessary to hold off a late surge in Sacramento last night. If they fall behind in this game, I'm fairly certain that they won't empty the tank to keep it close in Salt Lake.
Cleveland Cavaliers (-2) vs Toronto Raptors
This play is only for 1 unit because it is after all the CAVS we're talking about, but this is an absolute perfect spot here. The Non-Lebrons are 1-17 in their last 18, including losers of their last 7. They're about to embark on a tough West coast trip, so this could be their last legitimate chance at a victory for the foreseeable future, a virtual "must win" for a team perpetually trying to avoid embarrassment (a great motivator by the way.) The Raptors are a hot mess right now, playing back-to-back following the blow-out loss in Chicago last night, I don't expect a spirited effort tonight at the Q. They will put up a better fight in Boston on Friday night.
Warriors/Hornets Over 199.5
Mainly a feel play here, but I did note that the last 3 meetings between these teams flew well over the total. I also noticed the line moving upward despite these teams going 6-1 to the under in their last few contests. The Hornets have a nice little 3 game win streak going, while the Warriors are trying to pick up one more win on their 5 game road trip. I project this to be a fairly competitive game, and with neither team on a back-to-back, I don't envision any 30 point quarters in the second half. I'm thinking 110-103 Stingers.
