Don't think any game now can be taken seriously the way gambling has been so publicly accepted, and marketed the way it is.
Every sports channel is giving odds, announcers are talking about live lines during games.
I just think there is way to much money involved now to not have outside influence on the outcomes. Not just on money wagered, but with sponsorships and everything else along the lines...
Just gotta learn to fade the Public or when to ride the public.

look how those turned out. I was hot until I thought Philly would surely sweep Toronto Saturday and went extra large on Memphis to take game 4 because of what I saw game 3. All were huge public plays.
the nets were favored and the public seemed confident the nets wouldn’t be swept tonight especially since Scott foster was in town.. surely didn’t turn out that way.
one things for sure I don’t think I could touch that Memphis and Minnesota series.. it’s a shitshow and I rather save myself the stress from watching that series.
Sports in the modern world is all about gambling. I myself bet on sports and by NFTs and sports cards cause it feels that im more un the games. Id be curious how many people on here do the same. And big business is made there... And ill admit that we are living in such a crazy world that entertainment as taken another level.
Yeah it kills me they r talking about all odds live odds all the commercials you see for Draft kings and then they say if you have a gambling problem call this number. I for one have a serious gambling problem Been gambling for 40 years I don’t know how I haven’t lost everything but I have lost well over 500 grand and I keep doing it go all the way back to poor pete rose it’s a hidden fucking disease it’s a sickening disease and nobody gives a shit about it all they care about is the fucking dope addicts to heroin attic‘s in the meth heads when this is the fucking biggest disease there is fucking is gambling
It definatly is wierd in a way. I still remember back in the day when i would have to western union money to get a bet down . It was never talked about on the telecasts. Now every 5 minutes theres a commercial for where you can go place a bet. Announcers saying what the live number is in the game etc. Going to be a whole lot of degens made from all this.
You are actually 100% right and so is the OP. I just had my best season ever in NFL and NCAAF/NCAAB and I'm quitting after this NBA season for a year, possibly forever.
Ive been at it over 20 years and it took that long to finally start winning on a regular basis. Still of course lose from time to time, but i improved my money management and stopped chasing/trying to double up and grinded out winners.
I moved from the US to the UK and Ireland where gambling has been legal much longer and people in the US have no idea how widespread gambling addiction is going to become in the states.
Every ad during sports events here is for gambling, the soccer players have bookie sites logos on their jerseys now instead of electronic/insurance/telecom companies.
These companies are incredibly greedy and dirty and use all kinds of horrific tactics to keep people playing. I don't believe gambling should be illegal but the advertising should be. How can you let your kids watch it when everything is about gambling? They'll be wondering what a spread is long before they get legal age to bet.
neighbor ofkof mine killed himself due to gambling debts. Had a wife and young child, younger than me, early 30s. Owed loan sharks. Threw himself in front of a train. They had to pick up his remains with a bucket.

And sports gambling, stocks, crypto is all the same. You only hear about the wins. I know guys lost their whole savings and more in crypto, 50k in a day on online slots (how, i dunno).
Kinda like the Brooklyn Nets last night, everyone was on them (except me, hee hee, i thought with the other teams staving off sweeps it was perfect time for one to get swept, plus they're just soft as baby shiz)
Another thing men should be aware of is that gambling addiction is genetic and hereditary same as alcoholism.
I moved to the US when I was 2. My father never gambled but he was an alcoholic (I inherited that too, yay! Sober for 3 years now tho). My mother and father divorced and she moved back across the pond, I stayed in the US. 21 years old I get caught up in the poker boom early 00's. My poker buddy knows an illegal bookie and I start to think 'hey, i can pick the winners of football games.' and soon spend every weekend gambling.
2006 i move back to Ireland. I am delighted that gambling on sports is legal, i can walk to a legal bookie and place a bet just like i can order a burger. And the local pub runs a hold em game every Wednesday.
When I tell my mother i am going to play cards she gets wide eyed. Goes on to tell me how her father was a notorious gambler all his life, used to run his own game in a caravan, literally lost enough money to buy a house in a week in the 70s. And she has 3 brothers - one was a carpenter in England who made over a million in 5 years (lot of money now, even more in the 80s/90s) and hadn't anything to show for it, other brother had 40k debt from gambling and they had both quit, while the 3rd brother - just a few years ago he woke up from a blackout drunk and the next day he went back to the pub to be told he owed 4k from bets he didn't even remember making on horses.
The last time I has seen any of these men on my mother's side I was 2 years old. Like i said my father didnt gamble, i i didn't learn it from him.
ESPN'S poker coverage triggered a genetic tendency i had, and it spiralled. I am lucky now i can handle my shiz but when i was young and dumb i i lost a lot.
Thanks for sharing such personal stories, fellas. My father is a compulsive gambler. It is definitely hereditary, but I have had it under control for a few years now. Don’t gamble more than a couple of grand a year. If I win I win, if I lose I lose. Good luck to all of you, with your lives! 
It’s definitely not for everyone. Anyone see the Real Sports segment on the rise of gambling addiction in the U.S.? They touched on the commercials between the games and they interviewed one degen who’s life and marriage is on thin ice because of his gambling compulsion. One kid on there from the U.K. offed himself because of this shit.
Someone on this forum said the worst thing about gambling is winning… 
I always advise people NOT to gamble. 99% of people don’t have the temperament or mental fortitude to make it worthwhile.

Amen my brother. I’m guessing you struck a nerve with pretty much all who read this. I come from a family of addicts. Be it nature or nurture I’m screwed either way. Substance abuse, drugs or alcohol, is big business and widely accepted. Everyone knows someone suffering from the “DISEASE”…which is where they have a huge advantage over us degenerate gamblers. Once substance abuse was classified as a disease, the victims got a free pass. I’m 61..been gambling for 42 years just as you have. Won my first 4 team parlay card at age 19 and my life as I would eventually come to know it was instantly ruined.
Here’s how I see it in a nutshell…I wish I did alcoholism like my siblings…$10 a day bottle of cheap vodka and you’re all set. My credo is

Under's dominate in the playoffs. This is nothing new...They play no defense in the regular season and playoffs are a different animal and now team plays defense for majority of the game...
It was only a matter of time before it became mainstream, and for the better I think, instead of networks pretending they don’t know what a point spread is and no one bets on games. Horses and lotteries have been legal since how long, why should sports be any different. At least you have a fighting chance in sports betting, instead of going up against the likes of Navarro, Servis, and Oakes in horse racing, and the pure chance of lotteries.
