I have a Celtics 4-1 series wager at plus 285 . Should I take Mavs at plus 230 or Mavs plus 7.5 for game 5?
@TSix
In defense of the hedge, taking +285 one way and +230 the other way is still a pretty nice win. People are acting like Boston has already won, but the game hasn't started yet. It may not be that easy.

I have a friend that is like this " TELL ME HOW TO HEDGE" on like every parlay he does. It's annoying, but it's someone that does value money more than the average gambler who thinks "I win I win, I lose I lose".
But with this dude, my gosh the options are clear. I dunno why he's even asking, except to brag that he has guaranteed money.
You have +285, and a +230, so you could very easily hedge half for guaranteed 50-60%+ profit, or whatever you wanted according to basic math.
This dude is just nervous, cuz he needs the the celtics to win to win a bunch of money. I get it. But like any greedy person, he doesn't want to give up any of his profits to ease his nervous mind, so he's trying to hedge with Mavs plus the spread and hoping he middles and wins both.
There really is no answer anyone can give you here. It's how much you want to risk on it. That's entirely up to you. In this case if you put like 25% of the profits, you guarantee yourself like 50% of the winnings (I'm not going to do the math for you).
Or you can hedge 25-50% or whatever on Dallas +6.5 and hope for a middle.
When it comes to hedging, I always ask them how much you need the money. The answer is almost always "half would be nice, but all of it would be awesome."
Well you are in a prime hedging position with plus juice on both sides.
If you want 50% of the profits, and a chance to win roughly 100%, then put roughly half on the Dallas spread.
If you want like 75% the profits, and basically want to cash out, then take Dallas ML for whatever amount it takes. It's probably like 70% profits, put 30% on Dallas ML. Something like that.
Those are the two options, and I'm sure you knew that already. My math is probably off, but I'm not using a calculator for you.

You have trouble reading don't you?
He said he has the same bet as you. Celtics in 4. He said if he hedges, it's going to be live. He has the same +7.5 option you do. He's not taking it.
