It's as if he says these things to make himself feel better, in preparation for what is about to happen. It's like, "so what if I lose I'm still the best player in the world."

He is the Best in the World...even if he loses he should still win the Finals MVP. GS has their whole team healthy and is barely beating a disabled Cavs team. 

He is putting up historical numbers but obviously can't win by himself. No one can win by themselves. Take away Klay Thompson and Draymon, David Lee (in comparison to Kyrie/Love/Varejao) and NO WAY Steph Curry takes GS to the Finals

Individual sports, such as boxing and mma in which self promotion is important to increase fanbase and the size of your paycheck, the boisterous statements that Ali, Tyson, Mayweather, Rampage Jackson, etc. makes sense. In team sports such basketball it is egotistical to make those types of comments, especially if your not single handedly winning championships on your own. Lebron should let his game and his accomplishments speak for himself.

The East is and has been garbage for years...same can be said if you puts the Cavs in the West and Lebron is bounced 1st round if they even make it

Could be!  We know that the question that the reporter used was referring to LeBron's more assertive play.  He hasn't waffled between distributor and scorer and hasn't had a problem being "selfish" in this series.  He's being defiant here in stating this.  The reporter was right in asking the question that he did (about his assertiveness due to lack of pressure with an "undermanned" team), and LeBron is self-aware enough to realize that the pressure is indeed off to win this particular series given these circumstances, and he is benefiting from it. 

LeBron doesn't have to decide in-game when/whether to be greedy and hog the ball because there aren't any other legitimate sidekicks on his team. He gets to show everybody he's the baddest dude on the planet, and he's done so, emphatically.

Good for him. Sports isn't real life.  You have to be biased.  He's up against it in the series and knows it, so what the hell. This might motivate him even more -- and in sports, a little extra motivation can go a long way.
