"I heard that Powerball was fixed tonight too"
1toturn,
An amusing story for ya. I read these threads for what I guess is the same reason most do - the sheer entertainment value of the hilarious degree of ignorance on display. But the lottery has been fixed at least two times that I know of. One was Pennsylvania, years ago. What they did was use a syringe to inject a couple drops of water into some of the balls, just enough water so that they would bounce around in the hopper but be too weighted down to rise up into the chute where the winning numbers landed. Six balls had no water, so they eventually made it into the chute and were the winning numbers. The scammers got caught and went to jail. The second time it happened was . . . Pennsylvania, again, a few years later. Ya gotta wonder if Pennsylvania did it and got caught, did other states try it too, and get away with it.

@VeritasAlways
I remember reading about that first incident in PA. The same method was used to hit a Keno ticket here in Las Vegas several years ago. They too were foiled. Nevada has very stiff penalties for cheating at gambling. Even conspiring to cheat can get you 5 years in state prison.
