Any chance they tank the play-in game against the Pelicans and take their chances against the Golden State/Sacrament winner?
This is just conspiracy, but I think LAL doesn't want any part of facing Denver again after being swept in the first round of the playoffs last season and swept this year in the regular season. The Lakers haven't beaten Denver in a long time. They'd rather face Oklahoma City in the 1st round or start their summer early rather than face the Nuggets as we all know how that will end.

They weren’t swept in the first round it was actually the third round but to answer your question no I don’t see the lakers tanking and quite frankly I’m not sure the pelicans could beat the lakers even if the lakers tried to let them do so
also Jamal Murray tweaked his ankle today against Memphis that could loom large as his health has always been an issue during his career

I would say its almost a LOCK the Lakers lose to avoid Denver with the exceptions being, the Pelicans are HORRIBLE at home and are awful against the Lakers. They lost 3 of 4 matchups by an average amount of over 25 points. Also NO opened as a favorite and the Lakers money is coming in by the truckload. If AD sits out, that's when you know the Lakers aren't winning or going to try.

Why, they aren't going to beat Philly anyway. That's not tanking, they own the Knicks maybe more so than Boston. There is no way I would want any part of this Celtics team.

This is a crazy angle if knowing the League favors the Lakers as recently seen by evidence of adding a minute to clock at end of Memphis game and missing 2 LeBron travels then it does make sense that Lakers lose to Pels and then go home to host Warriors or Kings and take their chances in that game with Foster ref crew. It seems like a risk but not really if you know you’ll get the calls in that game.
if Lakers grab #8 then not only do they avoid Nuggets but also face an OKC team they won the season series against them if advance face a home series against the Clips so no travel or a Labron/Kyrie dream matchup that was a one possession series.
i like it. Only thing I don’t like is Warriors get bounced in this scenario hmm that ML parlay tomorrow at +225 tells me one of them lose
All Out

Or the ML parlay is for squares to hit their 1st bet of playoffs, get them into betting the rest of the playoffs (and give it all back + more)
Remember with legal betting, the betting market is flooded with people who don't really know what they are doing...which will only be amplified with new playoff-only bettors (more ppl watching)

Tank tonight and take a chance on beating the Kings or Warriors, both of whom they struggled with this season, just to avoid the Nuggets? Why would they risk injury by playing an extra game they could possibly avoid? Doesn’t make sense
