Sup gents, note to everyone, when in a rush, make sure to double check your props.  I had Tobias over, I'm 6-1 going over with Harris, but realized after the game it was a loss because I had clicked under.  If you guys knew what my monetary unit amout was you would cry for me for the 0.75 unit loss.  Obviously going to count it as a win on Covers, but it was a loss where it matters which is my bankroll :(  Went 3-5 (SU = 1-2, PP = 2-2, 2H = 0-1) for a 3.25 unit loss on Monday.  On to the next one, as always gents, wish you all the luck in the world, peace out - - - MAK

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER - 7.0 (-118) - - - I actually this could be a blowout, but I got a very nice reduced juice line as this was a - 8.0 at most places right now.  Durant is off his minutes limitation.  He was unable to demonstrate that in a blowout win last game, but scored 23 points in 24 minutes and looked really smooth and comfortable.  I think the kid is back and will start playing like the MVP caliber Durant we are all used to.  Westbrook is just in beast mode right now, as are the entire Thunder squad.  Tonight they face a team in an emotional tailspin, now I am scared of the new coach factor, but these young guys loved Malone, they were quite surprised at his firing as was I.  I saw this guy get ejected this season and he showed a lot of passion and gusto, he may not have really been to vocal with his players when they did something negative, but I really think he was a good young coach.  Cousins was quite upset at the fact that he was not in the loop about the firing, Cousins has never showed this type of maturity with any coach and I actually think with Cousins the team was actually overachieving contrary to what ownership said.  I mean even without Cous they were just a few games behind the Pelicans for the final spot and I think if Cous had stayed healthy they would be at .500 or better.  To fire the guy after his Dad's team (Brendan Malone assistant to Van Gundy and first Raptors coach ever) is just plain cruel.  Too early, it was an idiotic move in my opinion.  Tonight they may play flat under Corbin whom I was not impressed with in Utah.  They don't match up well with the Thunder.  Roberson is too big for Ben Mac and will cause him problems.  Ibaka and Adams match up excellent to Evans and Thompson and Adams coming off his best offensive game of the season and maybe even his career.  The bench for OKC is just stacked, Lamb may be falling slightly out of the rotation due to his recent shooting struggles, enter Perry Jones the 6'11 wing player, he played outstanding ball when Durant was out and is really a solid young player in the NBA.  With Jackson, Morrow, Big Perk who does all the things that a big man should and Collison.  The Thunder are ready to make that push for the final spot in this year's playoffs, it's them vs the Pelicans in my opinion and there have been plenty of Pelicans who have lost their life due to Thunder and lightning.  OKC in dominating fashion.
4.5 UNITS SHAWN "THE DOPEMAN" KEMP - - -

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES - 2.5 (-105) - - - So everyone knows I jumped on the Dubs bandwagon early and often.  In fact I have them very large at +1000 to win the west and even larger at +165 to win the division over the Clips, both those prices are way more expensive now so you can imagine how early I loved this team.  I am 11-2 on wagers involving backing the Dubs and 0-1 on wagers going against them.  Tonight will be my 2nd time.  The main reason for this is the perimeter defense of the Griz.  Dubs have yet to face a team like this.  With Allen, Lee and Conley all very capable defenders, this is a game that I just see the Griz wanting to make a statement and end this streak.  Defensively I love the Warriors, but in terms of matching up with the Grizzlies defense, it does not equate.  Check this out; in terms off opposition defensive statistics, the Griz are better in every facet on that end of the floor.  Points, fast-break, in the paint, assists, rebounds, ast/fgm & assist to turnover ratio, the Grizzlies rank higher on all of those.  Without Bogut in the lineup, GSW actually ranks 28th in points in the paint defense and Memphis is the 2nd best team in the league in points in the paint.  Gasol and Zach are going to have a field day against Festus, Speights and Green.  Turnovers will be a major factor tonight as well.  Griz have recently struggled with this but still rank #7 in the NBA at protecting their possessions while GSW is 27th.  You want more?  Mak has 1 more for you.  We all know the Dubs have the best backcourt in ball right now, but as I stated earlier, they have never faced a team that has perimeter d like these guys.  Allen, Lee and Conley are key tonight.  Griz however have the 7th best front-court in the NBA in terms of pts per game and GSW has the 27th.  I honestly think that these two teams will not only compete for the best home record in the NBA, but the best overall record.  They will be 1 and 2 respectively this year in the conference.  Not afraid of the back-to-back situation, apart from Tony Allen, the 4 starters will play heavy minutes and GS is on a 4 in 5 situation.  If you are on GS, begginerboy has a really good strategic double down wager against Memphis tomorrow.  I am really going to enjoy watching these two powerhouses go at it, it's going to be the most interesting game of the season for me by far.

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES + 12.5 (-113) - - - Paul Pierce just ruled out.  Flip Saunders is very smart.  He knows that without Martin, Pekovic, Mo and Rubio...his team....well.....is not good.  So what he does is run a 7 man rotation, the shortest in the NBA right now.  Their 7 guys are quite capable of sticking with teams.  I would never take them on the 2nd leg of a back to back because of the heavy minute structure.  But on a large spread, lets go for it.

Awesome writeups. 

Niccolo Machiavelli was one of my favorite writers to write about in my college years in my essays that I frequently wrote up examining the world of politics/power.

The world still runs on the Machiavelli model, sadly so.

I've got 2 units on OKC 1H at ~4 and may go with OKC in the 2H, too, pending the 1H outcome.

I don't see how the Kings (which were my NBA team for years, as I had lived in Sac and went to the very first Kings' game at the then Arco Arena) can possibly keep up with OKC in both halves.

Mozart - - - Thanks Mozart, always appreciate hearing that.  Actually I was a big Tupac Shakur fan and he read a lot of Machiavelli and started usuing the nickname Makaveli and even named what I think is his best album after the name.  I then began reading Machiavelli because of this and found his work and the Art of War by Sun Tzu the main things I use today for day-to-day business.  You are right it is sad the world still runs on these models and in business even more so.  It's dog eat dog bro, eat or get eaten.  Nice hit on OKC 1h, very nice execution at the end from them forcing turnovers to get the win and more importantly for me the cover.  Thanks for the post Mozart, don't be a stranger.
