Vegas is trying to scare you by making the 3-10 Heat favored by 7.5 (who last game got waxed by Orlando) against a pretty good Bobcats team. Your bookie wants you to take Charlotte! Dont be scared to take the Heat. Pat Riley will have his team ready to play at home tonight and Miami will win by double digits!!!!

I might be going too far this early into the season, but this Miami team seems on the verge of teetering into something of a long term mess. It seems like with the aging Shaq to go with the mediocre, inconsistent games of Ricky Davis and Jason Williams, this team could be in trouble if they lose a couple more games to younger, healthier, hungrier teams. Looking at their roster makes me cringe a little. But of course with a couple wins they could regain there veteran swagger and remember that they were world champs a little over a year ago. Anyone out there who follows the team have a read on which way this team is headed?? This just seems like one of those picks where you might make the easy pick on Miami because they are the established team, but i don't want to be delusional thinking Miami has something left in the tank if they simply don't right now.

You might very well be right, but I wonder if the high number is trying to fool people into believing the Heat is still a good, or even great team, and that Charlotte is still just a crappy expansion team. Living in California I honestly can not say I've seen any Bobcats games this year so I'm not sure if they're legit or not. I'm just wondering if the oddsmakers are still trying to steal some money by making people believe Miami is the same team as they were when they won the title.

UGA7- i agree you shouldn't outthink the line, i'm just wondering who the Heat are other than a reputation, to be favored by this "standard" amount. Shaq's a hall of famer but a shell of his former self and Ricky Davis always seems to find ways to help his team lose.

yup, ad Wallace is a go for tonight. I mean, Bobcats are 1-3 on the road, add that into Miami's rep and I think you have your line of 7. I just think the matchup favors Charlotte.
We will see tonight!
