The first game in the series finished 116-105 for Detroit and it will be
pretty normal to expect a bounce back from Rockets and split for the
season. I very much prefer the OVER play though as many reasons support
the probability for an entertaining game.
Houston have always relied on outscoring the opponent to win games, and
frankly speaking they’re quite good at it. Detroit held them to under 40
% from the field in the first game and still let 106 points. Pistons
themselves have slipped badly on the defensive end in their last 4-5
games, allowing close to 105 opponents’ points. Stan Van Gundy publicly
expressed his disgust with his boys defensive effort but it’s easier
said than done, especially when you play against a superstar looking at
the referees everytime when somebody breathe too close to him.
We’ll surely see quite a lot of heck-a tactics tonight, respectively
Howard and Drummond. This is usually done in the early seconds of a
possession so generally leads to a few more possessions being played in
every quarter after the first one. If both centers make a miracle and
score like 60 % from FT, that will surely be welcomed at my end too

7-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 206.5 Detroit at Houston (Wednesday, January 20th at 8:05 p.m.)
My spreadsheet has Houston winning this game by a final score of
117-114. The key components in this matchup are recent form and
scheduling.
Houston is playing their fourth game in six nights and their defense
should suffer because of it. On top of that, they have scored 103+
points in eight out of ten games. Additionally, defense is optional in
Houston. We've all seen Harden's "D" -- it doesn't exist. The guard play
of Detroit can be exceptional at times and I look for them to push the
ball up the court vs. Houston to avoid the halfcourt set where Howard
will be able to negate Drummond. Van Gundy is a very good gameday coach
and I look for his plan to be exactly what I mentioned. I strongly
believe in Detroit's guards and and that is their advantage in this game
-- Van Gundy knows it. These two teams played back on November 30th and
it was Detroit coming out on top at home by a score of 116-105. The two
teams combined for 64 points in the fourth quarter. I look for that
fourth quarter to carry over into this game. A gassed Houston team that
rarely plays defense will struggle to keep up with the guards of Detroit
tonight. However, the Rockets can get buckets!
