Jamaal Tinsley sat out the Indiana Pacers' game against Milwaukee at the Bradley Center on Thursday with a sore left knee, one that hasn't properly healed since he first injured it at Miami on Dec. 15.
Tinsley, who received treatment from physical therapist Dan Dyrek before the game, said he was unsure if he would play Saturday in Miami.
"Hopefully it won't be long," he said. "I've been out there and not been myself. It's been frustrating."
Tinsley has virtually stopped shooting in recent games, taking 23 shots (and hitting seven) in his past five appearances.
He took 26 shots in the game before that stretch, an overtime loss at Phoenix, when he hit just eight.
He said his sore left knee was "a big part" of the reason for the drop-off in shot attempts.
Heat guard Daequan Cook (flu) and center Joel Anthony (quadriceps) are questionable.
Pau Gasol spent most of the Grizzlies' pre-game session performing exercises and drills so that his ailing back could cooperate and allow him to play.
But the 7-footer's back just didn't loosen up, causing Gasol to miss the game Friday night against the Washington Wizards.
Gasol is listed as day-to-day. He'll try to play tonight when the Griz host the Los Angeles Clippers.
"There's some tightness," Gasol said.
"It's stiff. It doesn't allow me to move and hold ground and have balance. I fought through it against Chicago and the last game (against Orlando). I just don't want it to get worse. I can't keep aggravating it. I have to be smart."
Juan Carlos Navarro started in place as the Griz used its small lineup on a night when Stromile Swift was also inactive with a sprained left ankle.
"It's tough," backup point guard Kyle Lowry said. "We fought back and played hard. Everybody was excited and the crowd was out of it. We just couldn't find that last boost."
The Griz fought back and trailed 86-80 with slightly less than 10 minutes left.
They also ran out of gas. The Wizards responded with a 16-1 run. The Grizzlies' only point came off an Andre Brown free throw during that five-minute span.
Already playing without Pau Gasol (back) and Stromile Swift (ankle), the night got worse when rookie point guard Mike Conley left grimacing in pain after suffering a right chest/rib contusion no sooner than the third period began. Conley caught an in-bounds pass after Washington scored, turned to spring downcourt and slammed into a defender.
Afterward, Conley appeared to be in bad shape given the impact had a whiplash effect. Trainer Drew Graham practically put on Conley's jeans.
"It feels horrible," said Conley, who struggled to talk. "I'm in a lot of pain."
X-rays were negative, but Lowry replaced Conley with 11:04 left in the third and finished the game. Veteran Damon Stoudamire, embroiled in buyout talks with the team, was active and dressed but didn't play.
Perhaps Stoudamire's inactivity had to do with a sudden change in negotiations. They began Friday far apart, but Stoudamire and the Griz have agreed on the framework of a buyout that could be announced today or Monday, according to a team insider.
