Ok this is some of the most mindboggling s*** I've ever seen in all my years of watching basketball, on any level. Follow me here...
- The Washington Wizards are down by 14 (129-115) with 17.8 seconds left
- After a missed 3 pointer by the Wizards, a defensive rebound by the Hawks, Trae Young of Atlanta traveled with the basketball after being pressed by a defender with 6.5 seconds left
- So the Wizards are down by 14 with 6.5 seconds left and instead of just inbounding the ball and running the clock out the coach for Washington calls a full timeout ( not to put subs in the game) but to run a play
- THEY'RE DOWN BY 14 WITH 6.5 SECONDS LEFT AND THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO WIN THE GAME
- Why are you calling a timeout in this situation? And why are you running any offensive plays at all in this point in the game???
- So then a Wizards make a 2-foot cutting layup shot with 3.8 seconds left to be down 12
- So now they're down 12 with 3.8 seconds left and Atlanta has to inbound the ball
- AGAIN, THEY'RE DOWN BY 12
- THE SPREAD IS 9
- There's 3.8 seconds left
- Atlanta has the ball
- The Wizards (instead of letting Atlanta just run out the clock and end the game) they press the inbounds passer and Atlanta ends up turning the ball over
- They're still down 12 with 3.0 seconds left now
- The Wizards still refuse to let the clock run out and end the game
- So with 1.5 seconds left the Wizards shoot a 3 pointer and miss which ends the game finally
Had he made it, mind you, the game would've went as a PUSH.
Any thoughts from anyone as to why the Washington Wizards or any team in this situation (especially at the highest level) where players and coaches are getting paid millions of dollars do this kind of thing? There's no other explanation for this and if you think I'm bugging out the announcers (for anyone that actually watched the game) were thinking the same thing and had absolutely no idea what was going on. Neither do I, except for point shaving. What other explanation is there?? Does Washington normally do this at the end of games when they're down that big?? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE???
