If you sincerely want to learn something, don't ask a question like that on this site. A bunch of clueless people here. The ones that will give you the worst advice are the ones that pretend to be sharps...

This is my approach: look for a thread where the poster is screaming that a certain play is a lock and just fade it meaning bet against that play. You will win way more than you lose if you follow that plan.

I think money management is the biggest thing. Know when to play big and know when to play small. Don't be dumb and lay down all your bankroll on one play.
Realize a streak cannot go forever, just like the stock market.
Even with solid picks, poor money management will land you in the red.

THE MOST IMPORTANT thing is single unit, same size bets across all sports. Money management is the most important route to becoming a successful sports bettor day in and day out. No parlays, no teasers, etc. Make single wager plays for the same unit size. Unit should be 1.5-3% of your bankroll. If you have 10k then you should be wagering $150-$300 a game. If you choose $200 then stay at $200 a unit until your bankroll has grown to X amount (14k, 16k, 20k, etc) then adjust your unit size accordingly.
The next part is too long to get into here, but your must consistent with your approach to your plays. You can't fade player A one day, then come back and trail person B for a week, then trail person C because you think they are hot, then fade player D, on and on. That's not a plan for success. You need a PLAN to how you will be picking games. Again, I can continue on forever......

honestly, the best way to not lose $$$ in the nba is to not bet it tho.....pick a different league, regular season nba spreads undoubtedly the hardest to beat of any sport in my opinion...just have a look at all the threads in this forum for example.the number of dudes in season profit is tiny...thats not necessarily cos they all suck, its just a brutal sport to try and beat over the long run.

Don't bet everyday. Your asking a forum where the majority are addicted to action so you need to look within yourself and understand this is YOUR money. Each play you make is an investment.
Listen to your gut if you KNOW a sport, do your research, be selective and spot bet. If you need more help follow the ones on here that don't post everyday and have an over 60% winning record. If they go tout, DON'T EVER PAY THEM. Another winning poster will always take his place.
