Hello, I am a Torontonian and let me tell you a story.
Last year my city was electric, ready for Game 1. Wizards @ Raptors.
I was ready too, I didn't like the Raptors much, I preferred Golden State. I looked at the statistics and head to head. The Raptors were better statistically and swept the Wizards 4-0.
The Raptors ended up losing that game as well as the next 3 and were eliminated.
Fast forward to this year.
The Raptors are the 2 seed. The city is once again electric and full of optimism. A few stats in the Raptors favor:
Raptors won the season series 3-1.
The Pacers are the worst team in the East against teams above 0.500
The Raptors are the 3rd best team (only behind GSW & SAS) against teams above 0.500.
The Pacers are 13-31 when their opponent scores more than 100 and the Raptors did that against them 3 times.
The Raptors are statistically much better than the Pacers.
I figured the Raptors couldn't possibly crush my bet in the exact same situation 2 years in a row. A home game against a team that there is no reason they should lose to on paper.
Fast forward 3 agonizing hours later, they lose 100-90.
I hope that the Raptors get swept, I hope my city cries, and I hope they never have success. Ever.
Before you accuse me of being salty, I'd like to say.
I AM DEFINITELY SALTY.

Their problem is they don't have a legit star. Lowry and Derozan disappear when it comes playoff time. Whatever they do right during the season just doesn't seem to carry over in the playoffs.
Really disappointed in how they played today. I think they'll bounce back in game 2 but their confidence must be shaken. Pacers aren't that good but then again neither was the Wizards. It's just that those teams have a reliable star. Raps need to go inside to Valencunis and Carroll more also.

For the sake of the whole country of Canada, I wish PhillyBrown was NOT 100% correct, but it's so sad to say that PhillyBrown isspot on.

I'd like to believe that the Raptors still have a fighting chance and will bring this series to game 6 or 7 and cap it off with a win.. but the odds are heavily against them, what with winners of Game 1 having a 77% chance to win the series. Even if they do regroup, they're going to be fighting an uphill battle in what should have been an easy 2-0 due to the home court advantage and pace setting.
I can only hope they do, in fact, pull this off. I put a bet on their series win, haha.

I've read about the 77 percent #. Seed #2 vs #8, the #2 seed I like 90+ percent to win.
The 77 percent and the vegas line don't add up to me.
Truth. I actually went back till 2004 for playoff records and they're was just one instance out of 24 wherein the #2 seed lost the series to#7. Then again, I just remembered that I should check how many of those #2s lost the first game.
Fingers crossed that the Raptors aren't going to be the second #2 seed tean to lose the first round series in 12 years.
