Westbrook got 12th-man respect from refs in Game 4

Question

The Oklahoma City Thunder lost Game 4 for many reasons.

James Harden had no confidence on the court, Derek Fisher didn’t pass the ball on a 5-on-3 fast break, and Russell Westbrook had a brain fart and foul Mario Chalmers when he shouldn’t have.

But we wouldn’t be talking about any of those things if Westbrook got a fair shake from Mike Callahan, Scott Foster and Bill Kennedy.

Westbrook took 32 shots last night and had just three free throws to show for his trouble. The All-Star point guard had 14 shots in the paint but two of his three shots came off a foul on a pull up jumper.

Just look at the guy’s shot chart from last night. How does he not go to the line at least 10 times?

Full disclosure: I hate the Heat and I will be significantly happier this summer if the Thunder win three in a row and take the series.

i agree. he had contact on most of those drives, but the refs see what they want to see, kinda like fans.

On that note, Harden has gotten MJ treatment all year and playoffs. Biggest flipper and gets the most ridiculous calls in the NBA. Luckily he lost all his confidence and is like a little school boy out there now. Won't even take wide open shots let alone drive to get fouled. Allhe has to do it go in the paint and he's automatically getting the whistle but he's too scared to do anything now.

I don't recall Westbrook getting hit all that much even though he was attacking but id have to watch it again. Kid is a beast though always stand up for his play when people knock him down. He had some bad mistakes but they'd get blown out without him. He was a monster. But again he really didn't get hit all that much. I recall some lebron drives where he got HAMMERED by multiple players with no call.. don't remember it happened all that much to wb. But people will always complain regardless. Ah well

Westbrook won&#x27;t get as many foul calls as other people driving to the basket because he is constantly out of control.He is so fast that he never looks composed when he is driving in the lane, so he&#x27;s not going to get the same amount of calls as other players.

On a lot of his drives he basically beat the Heat players to the basket.   He blew through a hole and was at the rim before the Heat players could even react.   On a few of them his finger rolls just rimmed out.   I&#x27;m sure he should have got a few more foul shots but it&#x27;s not like he was getting hammered over and over.   Thunder had 2 more fouls than the Heat as a team last night.   Pretty standard.

Easy to look at the stats and make a false assertion he "took 19 shots in the paint" and must have gotten fouled more... But watch the tape... he was so fast that he beat his man clean almost everytime..... on the other end, there were several heat players getting body contact on their lay ups and there was no call as well... free-throws were 25 to 16 in favor of the heat, with 4 of those freethrows coming from intentional fouls....

i dont like the heat anymore than the next guy, but it has been way too much overreation by thunder fans/ heat haters

Thunder fans got nothing to complain about this game, heat were called for several off ball fouls in the 4 th and were put in the penalty with over 5 minutes left in the 4 th....

Just watching the tape of all of russell westbrooks shots... There was only one "and-1" missed at most... And that was after the release as westbrook was landing....

The harden foul in the post in third quarter was questionable...

There were several good no-calls on body to body contact on obth ends of the floor throughout the game..... On the block by ibalka on wade (where he got hurt) there was heavy body to body contact where ibalka had forward momentum into wades body... The block was made as their bodies collided and could have been called a foul on ibalka... It was a 50/50 call that was a good no call

great post! it makes me sick to my stomach that so many people are in denial about how lopsided the officiating has been in this series, and that the OKC Thunder are being stripped of having a chance to win a title...

maybe (who knows?) if the refs were calling it even, Miami would still win the title... but we will never have any idea, because that simply is not happening...

OKC fought all year to get where they are, and played amazingly through the Western Conf playoffs, and are playing great in this series, too, for the most part... but they are up against a lot more than the Miami Heat, and that just isn't right!

@ killerkardoogan - rewatch the game start to finnish... There are alot of no calls both ways.... i dont like the heat as much as the next guy, but the over-reaction from all the thunder fans/ heat haters out there is astounding......

.... Yes the heat have gotten their share of 50/50 calls, but its not as one sided as a bunch of crybabies on this forum make it out to be and it is NOT why the heat are up 3-1 .... Heat have been the better team overall and executed better down the strech of tight games... thunder have had their chances and failed to execute.... its not the refs, so just stop it

Bob - I dont like / dislike any team (except the Lakers, but i'll try to stay on point) - it gets in the way of making money.

Now there is a PLAYER i couldnt stand entering this series ... but it wasnt LeBron, it's Russell Westbrook (he's the latest in a line of overrated chumps that includes Stevie Franchise, Starbury, and B Diddy).

And, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, i place more blame on him than i do on the refs for OKC being down 3-1.

Getting people to understand my position on Stern, JCrawford, and Scott Foster is proving to be way more difficult than i ever thought possible, but i've written a fair bit on it today (go to my covers space to see which threads i've been on if you're interested in an opposing viewpoint). It wont always be a coherent argument though, because even some of the people who are "on my side" dont really know what they are talking about. It's also not a complete argument because i feel like i've already spent too much of my time talking about the refs and the draft lottery in the past.

Anyway, GL with your bets.
