If I can get 2 on a spread I take a shot if it is -110
On totals, I have to have at least 3.5 or more at -110
@smellieflower
For Example: If you make a play on team A at -3.5 ....then the line goes to 6.5 (or more) during halftime ... do you ever take the 6.5 (or more) on team B

I would need at least 4 points, but I don't like this strategy cuz you're betting against yourself hoping for a middle and if your original bet wins easy, then you've basically mindfucked yourself out of profit that you worked for

I don't do it all the time just when I get that "gut" feeling. :) I never bet back the full amount unless I can get 5 or more ... but I will bet back 25 pct at 2 middle.

personally thats a game time feel cant say yes or no to it cuz i have taken both sides of it some win some lose, so i guess yes in the scheme of things it could be -3.5 and there down at half and they are still favored by 2 more to -5.5 sure also they could be up at half and the new spread jumped to -8 would still take it but it could be either dog or favored at half live in game stuff is the feels you feel for the specific game in game stuff is emotional betting tho. no set number that tells me yes or no

Another consideration is how your day is going. If you feel that you really need to cash something and you feel iffy about your original bet, then it might be a good idea to guarantee something back with an outside chance of a middle, but of you're running good and already have a profit for the day, then I'd definitely let it ride on the original bet. Maybe even double dip 2nd half.

Back in the 1990's, I had two local bookies let me move their line 1 pt my favor, (which created at least a 2 pt middle and sometimes up to 4 as they would have different spreads sometimes). The rule was as long as I bet every NBA game and total on the board that night.
I hit 1 middle out of every 14 attempts on totals and 1 middle out of every 9 attempts on spreads.
They cut me off after 4 weeks.
My glory days of betting.
I have Gold St over 230.5 and under 237.5 tonight. Win $200 or lose $10
