You are correct, it's all an illusion really. if you are -1 or +1, it's still a pick'em game basically in my opinion, i don't look at it as a home dog if a team is +1 or even +1.5.
Only thing that matters is really just getting the extra point in your favor if it's a game that will go down to the wire you will be glad you got the +1 (although it's really rare to see a game decided by a point).

1. If i want the team that is -1.5 or -1 .............. i just take it at that, -1.5 or -1
2. If i want the team that is +1.5 or +1............... i will take the moneyline on em at +100 or +105, i get the extra value both ways
the one time that the fave wins by 1 is so rare, hopefully i didnt play that game that day..................like the ball falling on green zero when i bet on black.
funny thing is though when i bet a hundy on black, i sometimes will throw a 5 spot on the zeros......... but it hits more in roulette than in sports.

does kobe bryant check the odds during the all day before they play against a strong rival ? or does bynum look for the live bet lines to see who is underdog after the first half ?

Its always nice to get as many points as you can but you're right, 95% of the time it doesn't matter. However that 5% it does matter will add up over time but if you like a game at +1 how in the world can you not like it as a pick? Its people just overanalyzing things. I saw a thread here the other day of a guy saying POUND Under 198.5 on some game (don't remember what game) and a guy asked "do you still like it at 198?"

I think that guy has no brain because there is nearly no distinction between 198 or 198,5 under , because if "under 198,5" wins , "under 198" can't lose.it can be just pushed on worst scenerio , so people who think there is big difference between under 198.5 and under 198 have no brain.
it could be different if it was over wager.because you get push when it stop on 198.but on under play , a distinction like this , have really no importance.

i never understood why people get so worked up over a few points here and there especially line movements. even if you get burned by those few points you shouldnt have bet on a game like that unless you feel its a blowout on your side. people say "value"... my ass.
