Why would I not buy half a point? Anything can happen. I'm laying 6 grand on a game, so I'll buy the half point even if I think Utah wins by 30. It's a safety factor when you're betting a huge amount. Not sure what that has anything do with my logic. It's a difference of $500 bucks, I rather feel safe than win an extra $500. What's $500 when you have 6 grand on the game? In my first post I made here, I always said I like to buy half points as much as possible - as long as the odds were good. Pinny gave me great odds at -5 and I took it. Case closed.

Understood Wildcard. But this is my profit starting from March. That is when I started posting on Cappers. I've made much more profit than what shows as my record because I have been doing NBA since November. Obviously it means nothing since I only started posting since March.

This is what doesn't make sense to me. You can call the Jazz overrated if you want but the fact is they are and they aren't. AT home this team is virtually unbeatable but on the road they are a joke. That's who they are. There's no underrated or overrated with this team. They are what they are. You can't lay money on a Utah team going into LA - with LA coming off a loss looking for blood. Utah knows they can't win in LA they always get blown out there - it's a mental thing.

I agree with lack of MM. Surely not risking years profit on one game. But as for the pick, I am forced too take Utah too.  Hopefully looking to avoid Reg season sweep, since they may meet later.  Also, this game fits the trend where utah has not lost all year- following road loss ATS as a home fav.  Good luck

You're right.  Hey, here's a great stat supporting Utah tonight.  The Jazz are 9-1 SU & ATS this season at home when coming off a road loss.  Their only failure came on January 2nd when the Nuggets came to town without Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups and the Jazz fell victim to a lethal double dose of the "star player out" angle.  When coming off a road loss of 8 points or more, the Jazz are a perfect 6-0 SU & ATS at home, winning by an average of 16 points per game.

I really doubt this qualifies as POY status.  Maybe one of the dumbest Plays of the Year if you want to phrase it that way.

How about you read the posts above which clearly states it's not an all in play. 60 units is the profit I've made since posting on covers since March 2010. I've made more profit before posting on this site. NBA season started in November. This is nowhere close to an all in play, it's actually only 30% of my bankroll this year (which I have no proof of so let's leave it at that). And I'm not sure what the problem with the half point is? I got it at a great price. (-114) when the line came out. You can't even get Utah -6 at -114 anymore. I always like buying the half point, when betting big. It's my play of the year, not yours, I could care less what you or anyone else thinks of it.

No need to tell me what a smart or wise gambler is. I know exactly what I'm doing. If I lose I'll have no regrets, and if I win, it won't be a surprise to me. Enjoy the game.

Thank you linewatcher. I understand I shouldn't bet as heavy on this but I appreciate your  way of getting he message across.

I've been scoping this game out for a while, because I knew Utah would get their ass handed to them by the Lakers  and come back home to slap the Thunder. I've been looking at it since mid way through last week. That's why its a POY for me.

buying the 1/2 point as a standard play is a poor move, however on an individual game (big game) it is not such a bad play as you only need to have it save you one time out of ten to pay off.

Most people that have followed my posting know i'm not the type. But this play is special and big, so I hope some people can capitalize and hopefully the faders can also capitalize.

Utah -5.5 at home against OKC. This is a joke. Too easy. No such thing as too easy? Well that is about to change. You don't make Utah a 5pt favorite coming off a loss against a team that hasn't shown anything against good opponents on the road this year. You don't favor Utah by 5 against a team that is young, has trouble playing in tough atmospheres and is dependent on a man scoring 30+ to win games.

Lol sorry, but I didn't ask you to wager an amount that would cause you to lose lunch money at school.

Tough loss, kind of shocked as to what happened. OKC just went ballistic in the end..Durant had the game of his life. Up 11 with 2min to go and it goes into OT. Unbelievable. Utah was the right side and I still stick by it, time to move on. Sorry to anyone who had Utah.

As stated before...this was my profit made ever since posting on covers which was this year in March. So this was one month's profit. I have made more profit in the NBA season.

learn from this snorlax, and learn from me, please. i once put all my college football bowl profits into one game a few years ago. 4 g's on the unlucky seattle seahawks +3.5 in super bowl XL. i'll never forget that game. it's NEVER smart to go huge in one game and risk all your profits. it's just so unpredictable/unlucky sometimes. the key to winning is grinding and screeching a profit every day. it's okay to step out every so often, but in the long term, the best way to make money is to grind.
