Why do coaches feel the need to go for two points when it's not a must? I feel it kills momentum when ever they are unsuccessful plus they are chasing points from there on our. If Ravens just kick the extra point in the 3rd quarter there would have been no need to go for it in the fourth and no one is even talking about the drop (failed attempt).....Harbough dropped the ball way before that Andrews

I agree. This is the new “analytical” approach I guess. Way too much time left on the clock to try to tie the game at 21. I don’t get these calls by coaches nowadays. You never saw this stuff back in the day. I have a futures on the Bills so I’m glad they did it but it wasn’t the right thing to do IMO.

Harbaugh has been a nightmare for the Ravens in playoff games. That proved to be a fatal mistake by greedy Harbs.

I recall him pulling the same crap in regular season games. Not the first time. And it failed then as well.

this was different and I would have did the same thing. if you make it you tie the game if you don't make it you're only down by 2 anyway and need a fg to go ahead if you kick extra point you're down by 1 still need at least a fg to win

But if you miss and they score a td u are down 9 and 2 scores. If you go for 1 you are down 1 and most likely will still only be down 1 score no matter what. It's a close call either way.

The simple answer is that you know earlier in the game how to strategize the rest of the game.
If a 2 point conversion is likely - and in the case of the Ravens deciding whether to kick the EP or go for 2 when they were down by 2 with 3:44 left in the 3rd quarter - it was extremely likely that a 2 point conversion was in their future - it is ALWAYS better to do it early rather than late when you have no time to recover.
"Momentum" is a human construct in sports. There is no true momentum lost by going for 2 with 3 minutes left in the third qtr.
Game theory is way more important. It is not "analytics". It is game theory. And game theory says the longer you have to react and plan to an adverse event the more chance you have of overcoming it.
Simple.
