Keep in mind, this is a division game...on a short week.
Other than demolishing Cincy 27-3 (we all know how good that Offense is) PITT has been in some CLOSE games the last 5 weeks. They had to come from behind to beat MIAMI at home, squeeking out a win (at home) against Indy who should have won but can't kick FGs, and then beat the Rams by a handful thanks a late FG by Boswell. Three straight home games, three CLOSE games, and now they go on the road on a short week to face a division rival.
AND....Shutting down the Rams offense isnt saying much....if you carve out the Rams games against BAD teams (Cincy, ATL, Tampa) their offense really hasn't been clicking. HELL, the Rams only beat "shitty Cleveland" 20-13. Cleveland led that game going into the 4th.
Last time these two teams met late last season, Pitt destroyed Baker and the Browns (at Pitt, with Ben). James Conner rushed for 150 yards, 2 scores, and Antonio Brown did his thing with 2 scores.
YES - Pitt has a good Defense, but CLE will show up tonight. They have a little momentum coming off the big win last week. And this is another PRIMETIME game. In week 2, on primetime, CLE beat the Jets easily. SNF (primetime) in week 3, CLE lost that close game to the Rams. Last time out on PrimeTime, in Week 5, CLEVELAND was embarrassed by SF 31-3. SF defense is for real!
Now we get another PrimeTime game. I cant stand Baker Mayfield or anything about him, but the kid LOVES to compete and will most definitely show up tonight with the world watching, at home, against a hated rival - to show what he can do. It also helps that PITT is a HUGE PUBLIC DOG! And the line has hardly moved. The return of Kareem Hunt (pass blocking) helps a ton too.
I will be on CLE -2.5 and the ML rather large. Its been a good year for me this year in NFL. I see a 20-13 or 24-17 type result in favor of the home team.
