Chiefs -8 1/2
The defeat of the Chiefs by the Bengals in last year's AFC championship left a bitter taste in their mouth. The KC offense was stalled almost the entire second half scoring only 3 points and they had to kick a last second FG just to get into OT.
I see KC coming out in this game and playing like their hair is on fire. No letting up on the gas pedal either, nope, not this time. Pedersen has done a fine job with the Jaguars but turning around a franchise that has a losing history takes a few years.
Bengals +5 1/2 (pssssssstttttttt team is down 3 oline starters, pass it on)
Hakeem Adeniji who started in the Superbowl last year will more than likely play right tackle and Jackson Carman who was on the Superbowl team also but didn't start will be at left tackle and Max Scharping will fill in at guard.
Scharping was a former #2 pick in the draft by the Houston Texans and his career was stalled during the covid season. He was picked up on waivers by the Bengals in August of 2022. He is a bit puny at 6'6" 325 pounds and I'm not sure this shrinking violet can hold his own.
The Bengals' coaching staff is one of the few that actually coaches up players to realize their full potential (Uh, the Texans surely don't).
Burrow doesn't seem worried and last year in the playoffs he was sacked 9x against #1 seed Titans but still won the game.
Looks like temps will be in the mid 30s with a good chance of snow showers for this one. That soft zone that Buffalo plays would be a worry for me if I had money on Buffalo. Kirk Cousins and his aerial attack went to Buffalo put up 350+ passing yards on them and in that game, Josh had a mental meltdown that led to their defeat. Just sayin'.
BOL and onward to victory!
