Herbert = Prototype, already paid > Young = Kyler without speed, smiles after throwing INTs, a bust soon to be replaced by Carson Beck after Panthers go 2-15.
I checked every season of Harbaugh coached 49ers teams, no noticeable issues playing early games on East coast, they mostly win, blew out some teams, lost a few.
My main thing - The Panthers run a 3-4 defense and of the 3 up front they have 5 healthy bodies and 4 guys on IR including their best DL Derrick Brown who is gone for the year. Of the 5 healthy guys A'Shawn Robinson is ok vs the run, and the rest of the guys are just happy to make a 53 man roster, no real players.
Chargers will run the ball down their throats. Their only decent pass rusher Clowney won't do anything vs Slater and Alt is pretty good too. I don't see the Panthers stopping the run or putting any heat on Herbert. I'm going to take all Ladd McConkey props as with enough time he is going to wiggle around and get open, should be wide open off of play action with the LBs constantly sucking up to stop the run.
There are a few injury concerns but nothing major, Chargers a few questionables Palmer, Bosa and a couple DBs, Panthers TE and two OL. I'd say those injuries even out but Derrick Brown on IR is a huge loss for Panthers. Panthers look like the worst team in NFL, while Chargers look like a tough out/playoff contender now that they finally have a competent HC.
Chargers hung 22 on a decent Raiders defense, I think they go for more on Sunday.
Prediction Chargers 27, Panthers 10.

I agree as well, Harbaugh the key, great great coach. Also, I hate when media types or whomever likes to use terms like sharp so loosely. To me that's just a mind game that leads to losing. To act like oh it's sharp play to take Carolina +6 and then if it loses which it probably will, then act like it was the sharp side justify losing, uh no.. losing is losing. This Carolina look like historic dog shit suck like whit Sox baseball

Let me just say I am not a Jim Harbaugh fan, I'm not a hater but I think he is a bit of a dickhead. That said I acknowledge he is a great coach. He almost held Colin Kaepernick's hand to a Super Bowl victory.
He took Michigan to a national title, and look at how hard that team has fallen apart without him, I mean Michigan not only got smoked by Texas, but they got outscored by Arkansas State 15-7 in the second half today at home!
All the sharps were on Carolina last week at Saints, how did that work out?
Just know the deeper we get into this season, the bigger these spreads are going to get when good teams play miserable teams like the Panthers. We'll see 14 point spreads, 17 point spreads, maybe 20 point spreads. This Panthers team will be double digit dogs many times this season. They will be a "get right" game for a lot of teams.
I just think -5 is off, I'd say the Raiders have a better chance at Ravens and they are -9. I mean at least they have Maxx Crosby, a couple good TEs, a QB that has looked OK at times during his career, hung tough for 3 quarters vs Chargers before losing the 4th quarter. Panthers? Pooped on the entire game. Just plain awful on both sides of the ball. Spread should be -8.5 or higher and if you are being spotted value across 7 you are doing OK in the NFL.
