WOW how can a Michfan dog one of his own in Charles Woodson?  I agree Revis definately could have won but Woodson single handedly won at least two games that I watched for the Packers (now single handedly might be a bit strong but his presence was HUGE in those games) and he had a great season!

I think a few players could have gotten the nod this year, but I can't disagree with Woodson.  He was a monster all year....their secondary seemed to be in big trouble after losing Al Harris for the season.  It seemed that every time the ball went his way, he was making huge plays.

He racked up 74 tackles which is just as impressive as the 9 sacks and 3 pick 6's in my opinion.  Throw in the forced fumbles and sacks and you're talking about the top of the class in cornerbacks this year.

jkoch - the ball never went revis' way

he shut down moss (twice), steve smith, ochocinco (twice), T O and others

dont think any receiver went over 60 yards against him all year

Reggie Wayne would have, had he played the whole game.

Colts aren't playing the Jets. Unless you mean something else. But I do agree, Revis should of have DPOY.

Are you high? I can see someone making an argument for Revis, but if you look at Woodson's numbers - coming from a CB position - you'ld have to be brain dead not to think he's the Def. Player of the Year.

I ABSOLUTELY agree. Not even close. Revis was THE most dominant player in football. Not just on defense.......in all of football.

The only reason woodson has any numbers is because people arent afraid to throw his way.

Revis' numbers don't look amazing, but it's when you don't hear a CB's name that he's playing well.

Revis should of got it, theres no one in the league who can shut down the players he did.

this is why revis should have won:

According to Football Outsiders' final regular-season metrics, teams allowed an average of 8.07 yards per target to #1 receivers -- the Randy Mosses and Andre Johnsons of the world. The real elite guys. The Jets, on the other hand, allowed an unbelievable 4.08 yards per target to those same elite receivers! One guy, in mostly man coverage, putting up those numbers.

This is a reputation award. You have to earn your stripes to win it.

If Revis plays the way he did this year in 2010 then he'll win the award.

    Quit crying Jets fans

Oh, don't get me wrong I love Woodson, best player in Mich football history, but as a Jets and Mich fan it is tough for me to bash woodson...don't remember who said it before but thats so true if you a dominant shutdown corner you won't accumulate stats because teams won't throw to you- less INTS, less tackles, less opportunities to force fumbles, everything.  For Defensive Player of the year, statistics should be a secondary factor

If numbers mean everything, how about the numbers 51 and 2? 51 points put up against the Packers defense and 2 touchdowns on Woodson.

Granted, Revis had an inhuman year. HOWEVER, this is a game of numbers and stats... guys get awards and deals based on stats. Woodson had 9 sacks... NINE... thats more than most starting DEs in the league. That kind of production coming from a CB is jaw dropping... not to mention the other forced turnovers and the 3 pick 6's. Revis maybe the guy you pick to anchor a defense in order to build a dynasty, but Woodson (at least this season) is the guy who lights up the scoreboard and deserves the award.
