Yeah, I mean he still had 3 timeouts at least a couple shots into the end zone would probably make more sense before doing that

You only kick on 4th down or if there's like 30 seconds in that situation and you're preparing for a hail mary. 2 min with 3 timeouts, 1st and 10. That's crazy, was happy at first, then they got the onside kick and got sick again. Interesting call.

It was actually the right call. The fact that he got the ball back with all his timeouts and a chance to tie, knowing exactly what he needed, proves it.

Remember, he’s trying to find a way to tie the game. Not cover the spread.

How did he know he will get the ball back with enough time to do anything?

Agreed. He was real close to looking like an uber genius. Regardless, 2 mins and all your timeouts is an eternity in the NFL. Was the best path to tying the game.

Despite the first half, the kicker had been decent too. 10/11 going into this game and a big kick after the hooks.

If you had Atlanta and the points, it’s unlucky that he chose this route because I don’t think a lot of coaches would. However, it took a string of miracles to get you to that point.

Falcons had them on their heels!  Yeah falcons no need to kick the fg that early!  And they still needed an onside kick and a touchdown and a two point!  So yeah he should of atleast tried for a touchdown down 11.

Falcons had them on their heels!  Yeah falcons no need to kick the fg that early!  And they still needed an onside kick and a touchdown and a two point!  So yeah he should of atleast tried for a touchdown down 11.

Is it unrealistic to want to get the ball back and have the chance to win instead of having to get a td and a 2pt conversion?

    Makes no sense...

It’s funny how we call out coaches kickers and quarterbacks for
Blowing games but never the o-line....falcons as bad as they played had a chance to tie the game with 2 minutes and all 3 timeouts and
O-Line blew it.....but your not gonna dare see the press or reporters ask the big boys when you choked?

Are you guys stupid? That’s 100% the right call. The idea is to extend the game... field goal with 3 time outs left get you within 8. You need a TD and 2 or conversion either way PLUS the FG. No brained says get the field goal out of the way with as much has time as possible. Use your brains, no one cares about your bets.

The fact the kicker nailed three consecutive on-side kicks tells you Quinn knew he could get the ball back immediately after kicking the FG.

The NFL average before last night was like -10,000% in recovering on-side kicks and the guy made three in a row???

Going on that premise, it was the right call by Quinn because he gambled on the on-side kicks being recovered and not using any time to kick the FG right after the timeout.

When they recovered the ball, ATL had all their timeouts, used no clock and got back 3 pts they needed.

Honestly, it could be one of the smartest things I’ve ever seen a coach do in any sport.

Dan Quinn sucks. So many of these head coaches should be fired. They have no clue how to teach these young kids but have no common sense either. Quinn, Kitchen, Garrett, Callahan, Lynn . all have made comical decisions during games and will be fire within 2 years!!!
