In the past three seasons, the Detroit Lions are 3-6 against the spread as an underdog, and in their last 16 games, the Lions are 6-10 against the spread on the road. Also, when playing on short rest, the Lions are just 6-16 against the spread in the past three seasons. The Panthers are 2-0 against the spread in their last two games against the NFC North.

i was shocked at how well they responded without newton...

dbs didnt get tested sunday on jumpballs ... they will this sunday but the lions get flagged so much i could see the panthers 2-0 sunday night..

@Iceupson, I would discount somewhat those ats stats you mentioned in the first post. For a NFL coach, Schwartz did some dumb things in preparation and execution. He may be boring, but Caldwell will make less of those mistakes or be able to recover from them.

SINCE this is panthers thread, let me throw this out for ya

Matthews Stafford 3-12 after scoring 30 points to Detroit 3-6-1 after allowing 14 points or less. Can't wait to see what panthers can do with Cam back in action.

The new look detroit lions are winning this game by double digits! Cam will be forced to win this game with his arm and it ain't gonna happen! Again too many weapons on offense and the "throw it up" to megatron will lead to easy points.

Keep in mind that ATS trends are inherently based on shifting sands since the spread differs from game to game as expectations change. Thus, straight up trends are more meaningful.

And even strong ATS trends usually have several occasions where the trend did not hold up, so you still have to use the eyeball test to judge how teams are doing right now.

I like knowing the trends but would not solely use them to make a play (though they might keep me off a play).

For example, last time Detroit went to Washington they won there for the first time in 40 years. Every trend continues ... until it stops.

Carolina has the better defense but Detroit has far better offensive weapons.
