Normally I don't like to play Ravens on a short week on the road. They're 1-3 SUATS on Road Thursday games under Harbaugh but that was with Flacco. However, those 3 losses were all as road dog and the lone win was as a road favorite. As a Thursday fave, home or away Ravens are 8-0 SU, 6-2 ATS since 2011.
With Joe Flacco they were barely above average on the road, and even worse after he won the Super Bowl. With Lamar Jackson, the Ravens are a different animal on the road. the Ravens are a startling 16-5 SU, 14-7 ATS overall on the road and 12-2 SU, 8-6 ATS as road fave since Lamar became the starter. It has to be one of the best marks for any QB of the last 3 seasons and better than what Flacco did during his first 3. Only other QB I can think of with a comparable road record is Aaron Rodgers with LaFleur as coach.
After two uneven yet thrilling primetime games this season, I think Ravens will put up a much more complete performance under the bright lights and will dominate the Dolphins again much like what the Bills and Bucs did to the Dolphins in week 2 and week 5. Dolphins defense has struggled against top offenses this year and the Ravens have a top offense whether you like to hear it or not. The Dolphins will have no answer for Lamar Jackson as he will run and pass on them as he pleases. Lamar will have Watkins back, and for the first time Ravens top three wideouts will all share the field. I just see Ravens offense being more aggressive on early and late downs. Dolphins have allowed 2nd most first downs and a third of it coming via 3rd downs. Dolphins have 2nd worst 3rd down defense in the league. 4th down defense isn't much better. Ravens aren't shy when it comes to going for it on 4th down but fortunately their offense has been efficient enough this season not to rely on 4th downs. I just see the Ravens offense moving the ball at will against this defense.
On the flip side, Miami offense has been inefficient this season and struggle to move the football. On top of that they have the 2nd most turnovers right behind Kansas City. I don't see many opportunities for the Dolphins to get into the redzone tonight. Even though Ravens defense has been more porous than in years past, they still tighten up a bit on 3rd downs and in the red zone. Aside from a couple big plays allowed from busted coverage and a kick off return touchdown last week, the Ravens kept Cousins mostly in check in the 2nd half. The defense held Vikings to 318 total yards which isnt as terrible as it looked on the final boxscore. Ravens defense didn't play a great game but they werent horrible. I see the Ravens defense have more opportunity to be more consistent and bounce back in this one. I imagine this game will play out like when the Ravens played the Broncos earlier. I am seeing a final score of something like 30-13..
Ravens 1st half -3.5(-115)
Ravens -7.5
