I was doing a little research today on how Brees has played in Green Bay. Here is the history:
9/17/2006 W 34-27:
(8-8) Packers team
2006 season: Favre 2nd worst career QB rating of 72.7
71 degrees good weather
Brees 96 QB rating
Packers 17th ranked pass defense
Packers 13th ranked rush defense
9/8/2011 L 34-42:
(15-1) Packers team
MVP Rogers
63 degrees good weather
Brees 112 QB rating
Packers 32nd ranked pass defense
Packers 14th ranked rush defense
9/30/2012 L 27-28:
(11-5) Packers team
54 degrees good weather
Brees 109 QB rating
Packers 11th ranked pass defense
Packers 17th ranked rush defense
I think its pretty obvious Brees plays pretty darn good at Lambeau, and all 3 games have been 1 possession games. This time, however, Brees isn't dueling with a HOFer. Insert Brett Hundley. Folks, Green Bay HAS to get a run game going and keep Brees off the field. It is their only chance to win this game let alone cover the spread. Thing is, Saints defense has been pretty darn stout against the run, and its no secret GB's run game is nothing to write home about.
Key Notes/Key Considerations:
- Packers are banged up at key positions (T, CB, S, LB)
- Saints O-Line is healthy
- Weather is forecasted in the low to mid 60's. maybe some rain. slight wind
How do the Saints not cover the spread on Sunday? What am I missing?
