Can someone tell me how Drew Brees manages to stay untouched by the media? The guy is a turnover machine and makes some ridiculous decisions. I am not talking about just today and him getting sacked when in field goal range. I am talking about over the past 3 or 4 seasons now. Compare Brees and how teflon he is to the flack that someone like Tony Romo cops every season.
You look at Brees career stats and basically for every 2 TDs he throws he throws an INT. Those stats are pretty ordinary if you ask me. Not to mention that he just loves to fumble the ball. I'm just amazed at how he is NEVER criticized by anyone in the media while other similar QBs seem to constantly be hammered.

I just don't get how he is NEVER criticized for any bad performances or poor decisions. He was -175 to throw a pick today and in hindsight that is easy money as he throws a pick every second week. Yet he always escapes scrutiny.

He is human, like everyone else. He throws picks when his team is behind and he gambles, like everyone else. Payton also calls a higher percentage of passing plays, including in situations which should be runs, which increases the risks of sacks and interceptions.
However, Brees is RARELY the reason why the Saints lose, when they lose.
That is why he escapes massive criticism.

It is not him its his defense that gives up 400 plus yards a game .. And yes I have no clue why anyone blows this guy .. No better then anyone else in this league and his team is a fraud..
That just put Atlanta over 300 yards,, They might go for over 450 in this game .. good luck on those Saints tho...

Last time I checked, Brees doesn't play defense. But falling behind does increase your QB sacks and INTs as you are gambling often.
Yeah, he's no better than anyone else in the league. Go back to playing with your cards. I've heard a lot of garbage on these forums over the years, but that is Top Ten ridiculous.
5th in QB rating NUMBER ONE in completion percentage A solid 31-12 TD-INT ratio And 3rd in passing yards
ON A SIX-WIN TEAM.
Yeah, you're right, he's no better than any other QB in the league.
Like I said, go back to playing cards.

Brees is definitely one of the better QBs out there but I can see where the OP is coming from. It's not like Peyton and Brady didn't get bashed constantly whether they were at fault or not. From that standpoint, Brees seems to get off much easier.

Because when the Saints lose, it is rarely because of Brees. Hard to pinpoint blame and criticize him when he throws for 350 and 3 TDs and they lose.

He is one of the better QBs in the league but in saying that the depth at QB in the NFL is terrible right now.
I'm
just saying that if Aaron Rodgers can get bashed for the terrible game
that he had in Buffalo last week why is it that Brees can't cop some of
the same flak every now and then when he has a shocker?

Today might be one of those days in which you can blame him and the Saints defense.
Brees will be the first one to criticize himself though at the post-game presser.
Perhaps that's how Brees avoids much of the criticism by getting out in front of it and taking the blame before it is placed upon him?
There is not much that he can do about his defense but in saying that, having to constantly score 30 points to win most games will make his passing stats look pretty good.
You would think that both Ryan brothers should be looking for a new gig next year.

They thought they could get rid of a few leaders on defense, especially Jenkins and a playmakers on offense, like Sproles and Moore, and get away with it.
Backfired and it's on to 2015.
Plus, they have lost some extremely close games. Overtime, last-second FG, implosion in final minutes against Detroit. They should have clinched the division already.

Rob Ryan is gone for sure. That's a done deal.
Saints will retool.

I think that since Brees has won a championship that affords him a ton of slack in the media. He also gets a lot less flack then someone like Romo because nobody cares about the Saints the way they care about the Cowboys. Once Brees retires and their bandwagon falls apart even less people will care. Cowboys are a public team so everything good and bad gets much more publicity.
