I like to hear the old time stories. Wondering if anyone has some cool 70s,80s,90s,2000s stories about huge wins and or just cool sports betting stories. It could also be plain old online poker big wins if you wish? Along with favorite places in the country to bet,play poker, sports bet.
I was in Vegas with my GF (Golden Nugget) and I had the Yankees to win $1000 and they were losing 9-3 and score 10 straight in the 8th to win. My worse was having the under 41 with the Vikings and they kick a FG with no time left to tie the score 20-20. My Gf said 'you won it's under 40! Perhaps not what you're asking but I remember those 2 times.
December 2018 maybe week 14 or 15 of the nfl season. Ran my bankroll up to $6500 from $500 and decided to cash out and book a trip to Mexico. Took out 5k and left 1500 in there and I am NOT a parlay better but decided to shoot my shot. $1500 5 team parlay all nfl SMASHED IT for $41k
. I was in complete and utter shock when that last game hit zeros. Took my book about an hour to “grade” it but sure enough i had $42600 sitting in my account off of a wild but well thought out parlay. There were a lot of strip clubs visited that night
I have a vivid memory of my first experience with sports betting , was about 1990 or 91 I was 5 or 6 years old, it was a Saturday night in the fall , my fathers friend Jimmy A was over, he’s still alive and looks a bit like butterbean, and I heard him on the phone with what I know now is a bookie, “ok gimme Tulsa 10 times”….They went out shortly after but I sat and watched that game intently and was happy when when Tulsa won, for some reason it felt like I won , I got the rush and although obviously I didn’t start gambling then , I would always root more intently for a random team and loved the march madness brackets my father would bring home from work, I would check the ny newspapaer betting lines and pitching matchups and pick my winners…started betting candy or baseball when playing nhl or madden or nba live video games with my friends , it’s been a glorious time….Giants +8 cards +5.5
Early days of online sports books (at least for me), had ALL COMBOED:
-Eagles + 9 wins (or whatever it was)
-Eagles win the division
-Eagles make the playoffs
Family + I watching, an the NYG punter kicked it to DeShawn Jackson w/ no time left an he returned the punt. Absolute madness in the family room. $15,000 win or something like that.
*Can't make those combo bets anymore!!!
