If you are thinking of hedging, then why in the world did you include that last, late leg on the card?

You should have just left it off completely. If so, you would then already have your winnings and could now bet any or all of it on this last, late leg.

There's a price to pay for hedging. Guess who has to pay that price. Never hedge. (Unless the game conditions have changed. Maybe the quarterback of your team got hit by a bus or something.) Hedging reduces your long-term profits. Why would you want to do that?

Don&#x27;t think there is any problem closing a winning position...depends on how much, your aims and the type of bettor you are...id happily hedge a winning million pound bet but wouldn&#x27;t consider hedging a fifty pound winner...&#xD;&#xA;Horses for courses...

Gambling is all about risk reward and money management...I use an exchange book and will generally if the line moves in my favour ill take my money back and let the rest ride.

Just like putting a stop loss on a share deal...you learn quickly where money is concerned and the number one lesson is don't lose your stake money...

The thing is, hedging is equivalent to giving money away, mathematically speaking. There are certain reasons why people may choose to do it, which is fine, but in the long run it is undoubtedly a sub optimal money management strategy.
